Hilo Reeds Bay Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"The hotel was more dated than we expected, but was very clean and well maintained. We knew there was no A/C, but the ceiling fan was more than sufficient and there was even a standing fan if we needed it. The staff were great too. The location was excellent and he view from the balcony was beautiful - overlooking the bay. We will definitely stay there again."

"The owner was very helpful with what I was trying to accomplish on the island while I stayed with her.. she gave me so much information concerning the area and places to visit.. ex: beaches parks. She made the most delicious pineapple muffins.. my choice for breakfast. She was prepared to make much more but I'm a light eater. I really loved staying there!"

The Inn at Kulaniapia Falls

"Flies in the barn was an extreme nuisance. Uncut grass from cabin 5 to the barn was annoying. The falls was a amazing. However, be extremely careful if you take the short hike because the uneven rocks is a challenge especially if it rain (9 out 10 times it'll rain). Despite that, Jordan, Abby, & Cady (not in order) was top of line from hospitality, interaction, professionalism, tidiness, etc. & they wasn't ugly :-)"
Volcano Forest Inn

"Cute mom-and-pop property in a great location near Volcanoes National Park. It felt more like staying in a little house in the rainforest than a hotel. A little rustic, but in a good way. Hearing the birds and other animals at night made it really special. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay!"

"Staff is great, room was clean and they have access to a laundry room. There are fees for the laundry room, but it can be very convenient. The best part of this hotel is how nice the staff is and how welcoming they are."
The Pacifica Inn

"The owners (different than the host) are the best! They made sure that we have everything we need to make our stay comfortable and stress-free as our house in Ka’u was damaged by Hurricane Lala. The Nene Room was beautiful, clean and peaceful with its large picture window overlooking the serene forest. We also stayed in Gecko room that has one bedroom, living room, and kitchen. The Gecko room is comfortable and perfect for family and longer stays. The surrounding is quiet and close to stores, restaurants, and very close proximity to Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park."

"We stayed in the Garden room and found it to be a little peace of paradise all on its own. The host was absolutely fabulous, he would come over in the morning and get the coffee going, gave us an itinerary of events going on for each day of the week. On Monday he hosted a bonfire bbq, with drinks, food, and entertainment. We felt very welcome here. One of the highlights beyond the awesome hot tub in the jungle was the outdoor shower, now I want one at my house. This will definitely be our Hawaii home for every trip to the big island. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay or a better time staying there. Absolutely the best resort I’ve been to."
