"This was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve had. We arrived, anticipating an attractive and heated pool. We discovered a very dirty, shabby out of date pool that was cold. After much communication with Expedia, the owners of the hotel turned up the temperature on the pool. "Had a wonderful 10 night stay at Shantara. We loved being so close to Macrossan st and the beach, while the pool was an amazing end to each day. The Hotel was peaceful, beautiful and quiet. As is normal for Far North Queensland, there is not everyday cleaning service but we don’t use that anywhere anyway. Plenty of parking, but if you didn’t bring a car everything is walking distance with shuttle bus options for longer journeys. The only black mark of the stay were our neighbours on the pool...

"It was clean and everything we needed in place. False fridge cabinet door panel needs a couple of screws, but likely oversight from last clean up. Will very likely stay here again in future."

"The location of the hotel was excellent right in the middle of Port Douglas can walk everywhere. The main part of the room was quite small so it felt very cramped with our luggage. The bathroom was large, and the shower was very comfortable. The one major drawback for us was that there was a lot of scares climbing up and down to the second floor. Due to our very large and full luggage, it was very difficult climbing up and down."
