"Clean room and bathroom. Furniture was a bit dated but still acceptable. Only 1 power outlet. Friendly staff."

"Room not clean, toilet clearly still dirty, green growth in bathroom and flies. Marks all over walls in the room. Poor amenities tiny TV. Loud floorboard and street next McDonald and a night club noise all night."

"Limited parking ,comfortable cozy room there was a bit of a bad odour in the corridor outside the room no where to hang clothes, and shared bathroom but only staying overnight ,clean enough Ideal location when i go to gigs at The Piece Hall only a 5 minute walk away and only a 5 minute walk from the shops ,you let yourself in with a secure code."

"We regularly stay at this hotel when visiting Huddersfield. It is our favourite hotel in the area . The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Our room is always beautifully clean. The served hot breakfast is fantastic and freshly cooked as opposed to a buffet style. The hotel has a warm and friendly feel and we highly recommend it. "Moved from the bull to the shepherds rest as an upgrade prior to arrival. Out of 4 rooms (party of 4), rooms 10 and room 4 no heating. The bull may have better but I’d avoid the shepherds rest. Also none of the TVs worked in any of the 4 rooms and Wi-Fi password not shared. A shame as the rooms were fine even if the showers are a little small. Place was clean and obviously has been invested in. "

"Food was great and bar was well kept. Bed was comfy so comfortable in fact I overslept! Such a good find, not overly pretentious just good quality, helpful staff and good food. Perfect for a business stop over. WiFi was also reliable."

"Staff were rude when checking in, the rooms hadn’t been cleaned. There were ants all over the desk in one room, and rubbish on the floor. I don’t know if they are also long leasing out rooms, but some other ‘tenants’ were noisy until around 1am running up and down corridors and shouting. "

"This an impotant historic property with fabulous grounds but has been upgraded to a clinical level. Very clean but no soul. Needs aome fwminine touches. Shelving, pictures, hooks etc. No retaurant facilities or breakfast. Basic but adequate"
