The museum is known for its small gift shop, which sells a range of intriguing trinkets that are excellent souvenirs. The museum is located in the building of the former Lihue Library, a stone block structure decorated by arches and columns.
Note that the museum opens Monday through Saturday from morning until late afternoon. There is an entrance fee, with discounts for seniors and students. Young children enter for free.
The Kauai Museum is in the heart of Lihue in the southeastern corner of Kauai Island. It is a 5-minute drive west from Lihue Airport, which receives flights from several airports in Hawaii and mainland United States.
