"Parking was well lit, close and ample.
Our room was very clean, bright and comfortable.
While the hotel proper held beautiful elements of it's almost 200 year history, the rooms themselves were basic Hampton Inn variety. It didn't bother us in the least. Breakfast was about what one would expect from a Hampton Inn. I found the choice for kielbasa sausage as a meat option, versus bacon and breakfast sausage, a little odd for breakfast, but it was good. I wish they'd had grits or biscuits and gravy as we were in the South. But overall it was pleasant - good lemon batter waffles and great coffee. We had breakfast on the side patio and a beautiful view of the lawn, trees and distant hills. We had the pleasure of meeting The Colonel, the local celebrity cat too! He's very handsome.
The area holds so much rich history with Washington and Lee University and the Virginia Military Institute just down the street. All nestled within the cozy, warm Historic district and the beautiful The Georges.
Well worth a visit, just don't expect more than what we experienced and you will be quite happy, we think. "
