"Its a beautiful, nostalgic throwback to a colonial India hillstation. Darjeeling is wonderful and this hotel has memories, from the posters and photis on the walls, of life back when. I stayed in the Tenzing Norgay block, with old somewhat faded photos of the great man along every inch of corridor. "Very clean, comfortable and well-located hotel. The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. We had a problem with the taxi pick-up for the next leg of our break and the staff were incredibly supportive and kind and made sure that we were comfortable even though we had checked out. "

Woollen pillow cover was a nice touch. Ranjit provides good service and will make you tea and a nice breakfast. Difficult to find the hotel but call in advance and they'll send Ranjit to pick you up. Gave some suggestions and feed back to the general manager who was very appreciative of the constructive feed back. Passion of the staff to serve customers is unparalleled and trickles down from the leadership of Debarya, who seems to talk about the resort like it's his baby. "We had an unpleasant stay experience. During the winter season, we faced issues with heating. When we requested the heater, they insisted on an additional charge of Rs 1000. Despite booking a stay with buffet breakfast, the hotel did not provide a buffet; instead, they offered a limited menu with options like puri sabji, paratha, or bread with tea. I do not recommend this hotel due to the rude and unresponsive behavior of the staff."

"The staff are lovely and helpful and hotel is quite nice. Its location is also very central. The hotel room was quite cold, however, due to gaps between the windows and the window frame. The hotel offers heaters but these are reasonably pricey. I was able to manage in November but I suspect it would be miserable in December and January. Also the hot water supply was inadequate. It took 20-25 mins to heat up and I found that I had to turn up the heat every minute to keep it reasonably warm."
