"Perfect hotel"

"Aircon was a big plus, especially since there was a heatwave in the region. Right in the middle of the city centre, couldn’t be located better. Rooms were very modern and very clean. Would love to stay here again if I re-visit"

A place called Do Belo was our favourite and within 5 minutes walk. Staff were brilliant, but the check in process was a bit complicated as we arrived after 8pm. "For this type of hotel/category, there's a number of things that need improving: 1) Check-in: firstly, the hotel charges a €50-75 charge for an early check-in. This seems excessive and out in line with hotels in far more cosmopolitan cities. It's a small hotel, so room turnover etc should be more manageable. Secondly, the check-in desk is too small and ill-positioned so that when you do everyone have suddenly checking in at once, it forms a line with people not really having anywhere to...

"Positive: very good location and very friendly and helpful staff. Negative: All consecutive rooms we were given, had broken A/C when temperatures outside were 35C / 94F. Finally a small fan was given. So-called on-site parking is a few streets away, through super narrow entrance gate. Hotel looks like it might have been posh a century ago, now it is just broken and sticky. "The air conditioner was working well the first night but the second night it was not cooling the room. It was quite hot out that day, so coming back to a warmer room was less pleasant. We ended up using the oscillating fan to cool off a bit. The floor of the shower is quite slick. The beds are not very soft so a little hard to get a great night's sleep.
