Lovely building, rooms and excellent service from staff. Spa good, but disappointed due to odorous water in outside hot tubs and excessive amount of foam and scum in the indoor hydro pool which put us off using the spa facilities due to concerns of cleanliness. A shame as everything else about our stay was exceptional. Complimentary room upgrade was appreciated although the shower tray was very slow to drain. The pantry room is a great idea and had a good selection of drinks and snacks to choose from. Walks suggested in the handy book in our room were well enjoyed. The Brasserie restaurant was excellent with a good menu and service was second to none - everyone was friendly and nothing was too much to ask. (N.B. Spa cleanliness was raised with reception at checkout)

Lovely location and hotel. Spa pretty busy so hard to use facilities or find somewhere to really relax. Restaurant is fine but vegetarian options very limited. A mini bar/fridge in room would be nice. My the time we went to have tea in the morning the milk on the countertop was warm and a bit spoilt.

Some nice touches and lovely hotel but it was a rainy half term and was surprised that there was very limited activities available for children as advertised. Kids weren’t allowed to use the indoor pool at all. This was a surprise as I had read recent reviews saying that kids were allowed to use the pool at specific times which was why we chose the hotel in the first place as we knew the weather was bad. The spa team stated the chemicals weren’t safe for kids but I heard that spa guests had complained about kids which is why they had changed their policy. This should be made clearer on booking as we definitely wouldn’t have booked. Padel tennis was £52 for an hour for a family as you have to pay for balls and bats. Very steep and I assumed this was included as no mention of additional charge on booking. We braved the outdoor pool in the icy wind and rain but was a very short visit. Such as a shame as we had booked a 2 day trip and promised the kids swimming.

Lovely stay at Elcot park. The place has a great atmosphere and gives feeling of unpretentious luxury. Great but unfussy staff. Gorgeous spa.

Logistically breakfast doesn’t work. Too many guests and not enough seating. Tables not cleared quick enough so you end up standing with your food waiting for a table.

Fantastic pet friendly hotel, amazing food, great walks outside, great extras, love the pantry’s and the boots for free hire, the games in the lounge and the free night cap, to be super picky the only complain I could have is the outside hot tubs need a good clean and sadly while I was their only one was working which may be the reason for the tub needing cleaning due to over use. But it still gets 5 stars from me as the rest was stellar quality.

I everything, from entering until leaving our stay was amazing. We hadn’t even left and we were looking at when we would be coming back. The staff were very helpful. Only concern was the noise coming from the spa which was directly below our room, we were not notified that at 7.30am a loud humming noise would be heard. When we do rebook we will be wanting a different room (room 16) apart from that it was great!

Beautiful property, gorgeous rooms but it’s the extra touches like free wellies to use when it’s muddy, free popcorn, drinks and snacks in the corridors, wine hour, free homemade biscuits etc that make it even more special. The grounds are gorgeous and we loved the serene spa space we had almost to ourselves. Staff also couldn’t be more helpful. Will be back in summer to try the outdoor pool

Lovely room, nicely decorated. Clean. Warm. Nice products. Spa was also great, the hot tub however was luke warm and as guests cant put wood in, you'd have to walk back inside to ask soembody, surely staff should should be checling this stuff. Another thing is so many used towels were left on the beds after people left meaning nobody knew if they could use the bed or not, again staff should be on top of this. Breakfast room was lovely, good selection. The tea was horrid though. Staff were really slow to serve drinks in the afternoon but were friendly . Over all had a great time and have recommended to friends, just a few staff issues to iron out

What a fantastic stay at The Retreat! From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this is a place where every little detail is thoughtfully considered to ensure an exceptional guest experience. The facilities are truly faultless — from the beautifully designed rooms to the immaculate communal spaces. The spa was absolutely top-notch, offering a relaxing and luxurious experience that left us feeling completely rejuvenated. A special mention must go to Leanne in the spa, whose exemplary customer service made our visit even more memorable. The heated outdoor pool was a real treat, such a unique and relaxing touch. Breakfast was amazing, with a wide variety of high-quality options that catered to all tastes. Every bite reflected the same attention to detail seen throughout the rest of the hotel. The staff, without exception, were warm, professional, and went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. Their dedication and friendliness truly set The Retreat apart. Highly recommend, and we’ll absolutely be back for another visit soon.

My balcony room was overlooking the car park and got no sun which was disappointing. Outdoor pool is really lovely and good number of sunloungers to enjoy the sun. Spa was incredible, I don’t use them often but the massage was sensational. Breakfast kept running out of food and dinner seems a touch overpriced. Restaurant staff do their best and are lovely but are essentially untrained sixth formers. Nice place but wouldn’t rush back.
