The COVID-19 pandemic has changed how we travel, but it hasn't curbed our desire to explore. Here are some tips on how to navigate travel's new challenges:

• Before you lock in a flight, find out if any travel bans or restrictions apply — in both your destination and origin. Get the latest updates by reviewing government and travel websites.
• When you pass through airport screening, keep your face mask on. You will be asked to lower it briefly to confirm your identity. Passengers who refuse to wear a face mask may be fined and denied entry.
• Rather than handing a TSA officer your boarding pass, place it straight on the scanner yourself. When that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• You are now allowed to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on bag. This will need to be taken out for X-ray scanning.
• Remove personal items from your pocket, such as your wallet, keys and phone, and place them in your carry-on instead of into bins. This will reduce handling during the screening process.
• Separate any food you have for screening. Putting it in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA officer to touch and inspect your belongings.
