"While this stay lacks in the polished stays of a fancy resort it makes up ten-fold in charm and personality. This was the coziest most wonderful stay we've had on our trip yet and we'll definitely be back. Located a mere 4 minute walk from the train station and a 1 minute from the beach this was the low key break we needed. The stay was clean with great amenities. "Kitchen was very well-equipped, with a lovely big fridge. Appreciate the laundry machine available. Older place so a bit worn and dusty in places. Very spacious - yet somewhat awkward for just relaxing in. Single beds were not comfortable so we placed tri-fold mattresses on top. Orange duvet covers not a pleasant material to touch. We could not get hot water in the tub so we're not able to enjoy it! Air conditioning was good! Nice neighborhood. Lovely plants and birds just outside!"

"The location is great and very convenient, but unfortunately that’s the only positive. The host never responded to any messages, making communication extremely difficult. The property photos — many items shown are old, broken, or completely unusable. There was no outdoor lighting, and the glasses were dusty and poorly maintained. Wouldn’t recommend staying here unless the location is your only priority."

"It’s in a perfect location literally right across from Shirahama beach!! Beautiful views from the room. The hotel itself is definitely dated. But the room is exactly what we wanted. A traditional Japanese style room. We had to lay out our beds and everything. So that was fun and unique. The onsen and public baths were nice too! Only thing I didn’t like was the sauna was a “private” experience that was like $60-70 extra for 2 hours. Not great. At the end of the day, we basically wanted a classic Japanese room to sleep at night and be a good home base to explore shimoda from. And for that, it was amazing! I’d highly recommend if you’re looking for that. But luxurious, it was not. Overall, we were very happy with our stay!"

"The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful, however they did want to upsell everyone on a bigger room. They tried with us and others I heard at check in. We were there second weekend of June, which is "off-season". This meant that the pool and 2 of the restaurants were closed. Only one restaurant and the onsens were available. This is a bummer because we booked it for the hotel because of the kids/teens. We went back and read the fine print on hotels.com and it does say it's closed. Just wish we would have seen that. They offered games to borrow so that helped to keep the kids busy. The area was also very quiet so it was hard to find a place to eat. The hotel is beautiful, very clean, but just a little outdated. The breakfast buffet included a large variety of Japanese and Western style breakfast. Everything was delicious! The onsen was a nice retreat after the day. Being next to the beach and tidepools was a plus. We did the nearby seven falls hike and that was definitely worth it. Very close to 2 different train stations and a free shuttle to the main one made travel easy."

"This was my very first time visiting Atami, and staying at SOKI ATAMI made the experience truly remarkable. Our family stayed for two nights, and from start to finish everything felt thoughtful, comfortable, and welcoming. The rooms were super clean, which immediately made us feel relaxed and at ease. Our favorite part was the in-room onsen—it was simply amazing. It felt like a private retreat, and we all enjoyed soaking and unwinding together. Also, there are so many things to do if you decide to drive around the area. It made our trip even more fun and convenient, and we loved exploring at our own pace. Overall, our stay exceeded expectations, and we’d happily return. Thank you to the team at SOKI ATAMI for helping make our first Atami trip so special!"
