"On arrival, the check in agent was friendly and helpful, allowing us early check in and advising us on the best transport options to reach the Consulate in the city centre. The room itself was clean and clearly part of the hotel that has been modernised, with new tiling in the bathroom. The view across the Edinburgh skyline, including the castle and churches, was excellent and a real highlight. However, after a whole day in the city we returned to the hotel. At around 10pm. Overwhelmed by the smell of guests eating disgusting McDonald’s in the guest lobby. We headed straight to our room, where we discovered that there was no hot water in the room. Breakfast the following morning was served in the restaurant managed by Jenny, who ran the service very well. The buffet selection was excellent, and I particularly enjoyed the Scottish touches such as haggis and potato scones. The only small disappointment was the absence of mushrooms, which would have completed the breakfast offering. Overall, my impression is that while parts of the hotel have been nicely modernised, the underlying infrastructure appears to be struggling, which significantly affected our stay"

"Stayed for one night at hotel,staff nice took me to my room and told me all i needed to no about the hotel.hotel had a restaurant but i never used it.hotel room was nice but no toiletries glad i brought my own room was clean bathroom and shower were very nice "

"The room was comfortable with a large, comfy bed, though the lighting was a bit dim as the only overhead light was near the door not over the bed or chairs, so difficult for reading. The restaurant was pleasant and comfortable and the breakfast was excellent, with lots of choice. However, although the quality of food was good there was a rather limited choice of meals in the evening. The restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful."

"The hotel is very nice with friendly staff and a nearby newsagent. The hotel is also close to Brunstane rail station with regular trains to Edinburgh Waverley, and there are nearby bus stops for buses into Edinburgh city centre. The room is clean and, although fairly basic, is decent size and contains everything you need. The breakfast is of good quality, and the adjoining gym and spa are definite bonuses. "
