"Amazing views. Beds were rock hard, showers were old and not convenient, but the pool was nice, very friendly and helpful staff and a lovely place outside of town. "

"Got upgraded, room was big with an ensuite and a separate shower room. Ensuite had a leak from bath screen which made the floor very wet. Lovely views. Food standard for a resort this big, ate out most nights "
"Very confusing as to what is all inclusive. Some drinks are & some are not, same with the pools. The bars & restaurants are not open many hours. No activities offered. Food was the same each dinner & breakfast. There was very little meat in any of the dishes. Seemed like we were eating leftovers.
The employees at the concierge desk & bellmen were very friendly & helpful. Others did not not seem happy at all."
"This hotel is truely exceptional. From the stunning beaches and pool to the incredible staff, to the banquet style breakfast which changes daily and has something for everyone, I would absolutely recommend it. We travelled with our 11 month old and were thrilled so see so many other families with young babies too, but you’d never know as the resort is super private and quiet - doesn’t feel family friendly at all, but totally is. Could be my favourite hotel ever. Highly recommend. "
"We loved our time at the IHG- Intercontinental Crete. It’s centrally located in Agios Nikolaos to great food and shops. The hotel has valet parking and it was very easy to get in and out quickly. The staff could not have been more pleasant. From the moment we arrived, they were very attentive and kind. The breakfast was phenomenal and included with out stay. This saved us time and money looking outside of the hotel for breakfast each day. The hotel restaurant and bar are great too. We spent each night having a delicious meal or drink at the hotel. The room was spacious and had everything to make our stay feel like home. We loved our time! 10/10"
"The food was probably the most disappointing thing about High Beach. There were large quantities of food and they were varied. The desserts were generally excellent, the breads were delicious and the cold and uncooked items were generally good but the hot and cooked foods were really poor. None of the food that was supposed to be hot was actually hot. It was all tepid. Even the soup which was in its own supposedly heated electric tureen was barely warm. Dishes which were just delivered from the kitchen were not hot. Every chicken dish, except for the chicken skewers, was totally dried out. The fish dishes were all very fishy smelling except for the mussels and the octopus. The stewed lamb, pork and beef dishes were acceptable but not memorable. Supposedly the nights had themes but had we not asked them what the themes were at the Concierge desk it would have been difficult to tell. Just to elaborate, on Greek night you couldn’t find moussaka nor any dessert with filo dough.
• Being from the US, we decided to do our one table service dinner on Mexican night. So we made a reservation and went to Elia. The service was very good but again, the food was barely warm (given that we were sitting where we could see the food as it came out of the kitchen this was perplexing). My daughter and I had beef cheeks which were stewed and OK but the beef was served over a supposedly smoked eggplant puree which was the most unappealing brown color you can imagine. "
"We loved our stay. The room was great and the food was amazing. We were there out of season so there was not a lot of entertainment but we were expecting this. However, we had a lot of fun during our stay. "
"Our stay at this hotel was fantastic, the property was spotless, architecture gorgeous, environment serene. It felt like a spa stay; the spa itself was nice though maybe not worth it for just the drop-in pools (the ‘sauna’ especially). It was walking, albeit a good 30-40 min, distance to town which was filled with cute cafes, shopping and fantastic dinner spots. The water was pristine, loungers comfy, beach bar perfect. Only thing I’ll say is that it lacked a personal touch.. we actually got engaged there on our first morning and then extended our stay an additional night, sharing the news with the desk staff when we did, he complimented my ring but that was that. Of course I wasn’t expecting free comps or any fireworks but you’d think they’d send a congratulatory drink or a piece of cake or just something to celebrate this occasion. It felt quite removed, didn’t matter though we were just elated! "
"The overall comfort, quality and style of accommodation and stunning setting were wonderful. Cleanliness of the whole resort and friendliness of staff were excellent."
"This is such a brilliant hotel for young families. It’s a really beautiful place with some lovely restaurants, bars & some cute additions like the gelateria & the little on-site kafenio. The staff are brilliant with kids and they’ve thought of everything you need. Malia isn’t the prettiest area, but parts of the Old Town are charming with some lovely, great value restaurants. My only criticism of this hotel how expensive the restaurant are. We chose not to go half board or all-included but I wish we had – I think it would’ve been much better value overall!"
