The reason we chose this hotel was because it had an onsite restaurant. We had to crawl on the floor to get the refrigerator turned on. There was no soap in the bathroom, but a soap dish--the housekeeper didn't have any--we had to go to the front desk for a simple bar of soap???? Fire alarm in the middle of the night left us outside for over...

"The boars head normally is a great place to stay. This last visit however, I had some issues. The front desk did their best to take care of everything. The staff was very gracious and very hospitable. The amenities in the room are fantastic and the linens on a scale of one to 10 I would give them an eight. "

"The facilities were in good shape and the clerk/manager was helpful, but the breakfast was a joke. One of the reasons I chose the hotel was because it listed "breakfast included", but breakfast only included muffins and yogurt."

"We stayed in the king suite, upon arrival we noticed a damp/musty smell then we noticed water damage to a wall. Everything in the kitchenette wobbled (fridge, microwave, tea kettle), there were no forks just spoons and knives, no glasses just mugs. The hair dryer had hair stuck in it. No hand soap in the bathroom. The tv screen in the bedroom was cracked/broken. No access to the ice machine after 9pm. Parking was a nightmare. When I asked for a later check out they told me it would be $75 for...

"Staff was great! Breakfast was delicious. The hotel itself was unique in all the best ways. We were staying in one of the oldest buildings in Charlottesville. We learned , on our tour of Monticello, that Dinsmore was a master carpenter that actually built the dome (and much more) at Monticello. I believe he built this building that is now the Dinsmore. Our room was very old and very comfortable."

"This hotel is fantastic! Gorgeous design, super friendly staff, perfect location, and great connection to the uva community. The rooms were well appointed with super soft robes and towels. The staff went above and beyond to greet us. We also ate at the main restaurant Poplar and the food, decor and service was perfect! I’m excited to continue to visit this fantastic addition to the uva community!"

"I told the front desk staff that we were very sensitive to noise and the lady at front desk gave me the room on the first floor right next to the public bathrooms. I asked whether this was going to be quiet, and she reassured me and said yes. People were using that bathroom since 6:30 am, and I could hear everything. Maybe it was my fault for trusting her but please maybe just be a little more thoughtful next time. Btw, there were other rooms available. Also breakfast eggs tasted funky. "

"Staff were pleasant and helpful. I selected this hotel because it advertised a restaurant onsite. It does not. Breakfast is self-service like most restaurants, but there is NOT a restaurant. There is what looks like a bar with hours posted, but it wasn't open once. I even confirmed with hotel staff. There is no restaurant on site."
