"The Shores is a charming old style hotel right on the beach. We have stayed here before. Unfortunately, they were under construction, hence it was a little noisy and no use of the pool. They did provide a shuttle to a lovely hotel in downtown La Jolla. Staff is friendly. Restaurant is very good. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner. Morning coffee station had very good coffee. We would stay there again. "

"Location, location is great!! A few blocks from seal cove and great view of the ocean from our balcony. Basically within walking distance to everything in LaJolla. We used Valet parking which worked perfectly for us. The Birds Eye View rooftop bar was a nice spot to enjoy delicious cocktails or to grab a bite to eat. There was a glitch with the air conditioning on the 2nd floor for several nights. However, management made it right once made aware of the issue. Had no issue with noise from the rooftop bar as mentioned in previous comments. Enjoyed the espresso machine in the room and coffee on the 2nd floor hallway daily. Beds were comfortable and room cleaned daily. There is a little convenience store attached to the hotel which is open 24/7. Nice to pick-up drinks or snacks as needed. Staff were very professional, helpful and pleasant. I would recommend for those who enjoy smaller, quaint more personal hotels. Please note: there is no elevator. Staff offered their help and assistance as needed. Would stay again when we return to LaJolla. "

"Room was expensive and came with nothing. 2 tiny trash bags. And face wash/lotion...no hand soap. Didnt say construction was going on. I wouldnt come back. Wish i wouldnt have wasted the money"

"The room was clean and quiet. I don't care for the sink/vanity set up as it is too high and very wide, which makes it hard for anyone under 5'4 to get ready. Otherwise it was a nice room."

"Room was clean. Bathrooms were well done. Great location and friendly staff/service. Air conditioning worked well but was loud- otherwise a good stay if you want to be close to La Jolla village and beach."

"Construction work happening early in the morning and throughout the day. I had a work meeting and all they could here were the construction guys standing outside my room shooting the sh*t. Absolutely the worst.and no where were we notified that that's what it was going to be like we weren't discounted, nothing. Just went in thinking we could get some decent sleep. And I'm an early riser mind you! "
