Supalai Scenic Bay Resort And Spa
6/10 Okay
"If you are looking for R&R, this place is for you, provided you can handle stairs.
Our room was spacious and the sea view was beautiful. We had room 111. We truly believe it is the worst room they have.
We were forewarned during check in that it was a distance away and involved stairs, but was the room that fit with our booking of king bed and sea view. We had 54 stairs to climb from our rm to the main lobby. 35 stairs to the restaurant. We couldn’t get to anything without stairs. We even had to go up one set of stairs and down another to get to the pool.
We also like to sit out on our balcony after returning from the pool. Our balcony was directly above a staff area, so at times, was quite noisy. (Voices, a noisy water pump (?)
I don’t know what the phone ext. was for our rm, but twice in 9 nights we received calls from other guests. The first was around midnight asking for water to be sent to their room. The second was at 1:45 am asking for help with their luggage. Both times we were sleeping.
Speaking of pools, they are lovely (but in need of some work). Again, 8 steps down to the infinity pool and another 22 to the lower pool.
Kudos to the chefs! We didn’t have one single meal that wasn’t delicious!
Our second last night, we saw a daytime activity schedule at the top of the stairs near the lobby bar. Who knew!?
They offer currency exchange, but not for Canadian $
There is literally nothing to do here.
Beautiful place but 10 nights was too long.

Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa
10/10 Excellent
"The resort is ideal for a family vacation. Very friendly and hospitable staff that will help you with all. The rooms are clean and spacious. The Mai Khao plaza is 5min away."

ROBINSON KHAO LAK
2/10 Terrible
"I felt a little scammed upon arrival. On Hotels.com and other OTAs, when you search for 2-person occupancy, you can see a room type listed as “villa (single use).” However, once you arrive, you’re told that it is only for single occupancy—that’s what “single use” means.
To stay, we ended up paying an additional $300 for two nights, bringing our total cost to $1,000 for two people. At that price, you can find far better options in this area.
Also, some of the amenities are very old and worn out. We tried their Muay Thai session and were given very poor gloves with zero wrist support. The coaches didn’t provide hand wraps either. When I asked for better gloves for safety, I was told we would need to pay for a private session just to get proper wrist-support equipment.
Overall, at $500 per night, this place feels like a rip-off."

Moracea by Khao Lak Resort
10/10 Excellent
"We stayed in the deluxe bungalow overlooking the beach. It was quiet and perfect for our stay. Breakfast was varied with great options. There were so many pools to swim in but the beach was perfect with warm temperatures. I cannot fault the Moraceo it was perfect for couples solo travelers and families. Nicely spread out. "

"Top location. Super recommended."

The Sands Khao Lak by Katathani

"Most amazing hotel, my little girl loved it. The soft play was her favourite! The kids area in the swimming pool was amazing too! So much to do, we were at the end of our 4 week trip around Thailand and so we just stayed in hotel and enjoyed it for the whole week, never got bored! The food was amazing, and the sunsets at the restaurant by the beach was gorgeous! Only downside is the yoga classes are in a room next to the games room, and so for more than half of the yoga class we had to listen to kids screaming and also looking into the room, so being shy it can be off putting. A hotel we stayed in in koh Samui did their classes in the mornings by the pool outdoors early morning whilst breakfast just began, which is just a thought that maybe the hotel should consider theirs in the giant garden by the lake.
My daughter loved feeding the fish! Would recommend the hotel to anyone staying in Khao Lak!"

"Love this hotel"

JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa

"Huge property with a great kids club that’s ideal for families. However it’s far from restaurants and the food in the resort is very average. Premises are old but clean, staff are friendly and helpful but don’t communicate well in English resulting in a few misunderstandings. Housekeeping takes a long time to come around and most days our room wasn’t cleaned til mid afternoon. It feels like this hotel is so big it struggles to be managed properly. Tolerating it for the kids club and activities but definitely on my own I wouldn’t return."
