"An amazing stay at the Dale Head Hotel! Beautiful location and well-manicured grounds to walk around. There is access to the lake from the property, but not easily - the path is a little over-grown. The Manager, Dale, was lovely and could not have been more helpful. We were there to hike Helvellyn, and he advised us that Swirls Car park (beginning of the hike) is easily accessed from the hotel by a woodland footpath, rather than the main road, or paying for the car park. "Stunning views, location and garden. Room was clean, food was good except my intolerance was not considered in all my food despite informing them in advance. Unfortunately let down by poor service of staff throughout the stay - front desk, waiting staff and duty manager. Especially the duty manager who asked for extra tips and charged us £8 for a pint of Diet Coke…"

"Breakfast was delightful each morning! Also, our family appreciated the lovely sunroom, the helpful staff, the convenience to the village of Grasmere and countless footpaths, the treats put out each afternoon… we plan to return to the District and will stay at Victorian House!"

"The room was clean and the breakfast was good The only issue was the stairs to the room as our room was on the 3 floors there were a lot of stairs to climb and we both OAP which was very tiring. On the hold it was a good experience but we would not stay again due to the stairs."

"Excellent place. We stayed in room 40 in the annexe for families. It has a big and comfortable main bed and bunk beds for kids. Clean and airy, very large room for family with great size bathroom. Pub food was excellent we had the chicken for dinner with wine all good, and sticky toffee pudding was generous size two could share. Overall a great place and convenient close to grasmere, Ambleside and the zip World. Great stay very pleased."

"All was great, except we thought we had paid for an upgraded room. While it did have a balcony, it overlooked the parking lot rather than the village, with a tight configuration at the window. One staff member was particularly helpful, giving us great advice on hikes."
