I was notified by the taxi driver that the area was unsafe. Upon entering the neighborhood we asked two patrol officers for directions and they stated that the area was “hot” and that I could be robbed and/or murdered just for walking in the streets. I took their advise and found another hotel in a safer area. I enjoyed my time in Trinidad and Tobago.

Dirty apartment and loud dogs all night

We got another apartment than we booked, and when we checked in, the whole apartment stank of dogs and was full of dog hairs. The kitchen and especially fridge was very mouldy and dirty and the overall impression of the place was not good with dogs barking all night leaving no sleep. Not even with earplugs. The whole area and especially their own dogs was extremely loud. We adressed these issues to the owner who tried to accomodate us but didnt help. We checked out early to find a better place

It was a short but wonderful time in Trinidad. We were very lucky with our hosts and we are grateful to have met such great people. If we had known them before, we would certainly have stayed longer. We felt very comfortable and in good hands. The accommodation is simple but clean and everything we needed was there. For us it was important to have a large bed, a shower, TV 📺 and a fridge. Our hostess gave us lots of good and helpful tipps (e.g. public transportation). The warmth and helpfulness impressed us the most. Thank you for accompanying us to Rituals for a good cappuccino 😚🇮🇹 and especially for the drive back to the airport in the evening as darkness fell. There was a lot of hustle and bustle and a variety of people in the city itself, which we found very exciting. At no time did we feel harassed or threatened. The friendliness of the people is just great. All the best 💝.🇮🇹 È stato un piacere. 🇩🇪 Dankeschön 🤗

Worst experience teaveling ever. Location does not exist and nobody to reach out to. Got an email the day after saying booking was unavailable yet you still charged me. I need a refund asap plus i had to get another hotel at a much more expensive price.

I was not able to find the property, based on the map location given on google maps. I went to the block where the pin was on the map, in the late afternoon around 16:00, and I circled both blocks associated with the pinned area for the location, and never found the hotel. The actual pin on the map, on google maps, is of a dump sight in an alleyway. I asked two different people in the area where Port Lodge was, and no one knew of any hotel in the area. I had a local Trini friend try to call Port Lodge around 16:30, and she said that the phone number for the hotel came up as restricted and would not go through. I had to rebook another hotel since I couldn't find Port Lodge, and I am requesting that Port Lodge refund my money.

A hidden gem

Alisia the manager made my stay the bestest, she took well care of me. There is no hot water but it was nice during the day anyway. The view was fantastic (stayed in room Tobago). This is no Hilton but its spacious and its just like living like the locals. I would come back no doubt🙌. The area gets a bad reputation but the Lodge is literally 4 houses from main Rd called Circular, so its safe and I walked from the Savannah. I don't recommend strolling around at night alone in any part of a large city but no problem in my opinion from here. The dogs bark outside but you get used to it. The bed was strangely comfortable, I thought it would be too hard but it felt like a tempura. I had the best carnival, thank u guys👌❤️

Hôtel introuvable Quartier non recommandé

Avons jamais trouvé l'hôtel aucune identification à l'extérieur du batiment avons passé 3 fois sur la rue introuvable ensuite avons demandé de l'aide à un policier qui nous a dit qu 'à cette heure 1 h 30 nuit valait mieux ne pas se promener dans ce quartier avons quoté l'hôtel 1 car sans quôte on ne peux pas mettre de commentaire donc avons couché le 1er soir au Radisson et le reste du temps au Chiconia. Hotel is a house without any indicationew of being a place of lodge. The neighborhood is dangerous.

Big, clean apartment centrally located

We stayed for two nights and the apartment was everything we hoped for and more. A full kitchen, free bottled water and huge, clean space with aircon. The owner Alicia did an amazing job, not only answering all our questions - but actually taking us all over the city in a hunt for carnival costumes. She also gave great recommendations to places to eat, and is an absolute gem of a host. The prices is good, even in high season, and the location is very close to where you can take local buses and just 2 minutes walk down to the shopping/market area of Charlotte Street. Would highly recommend.
