Shutters on the Banks
6/10 Okay
"Great location and amazing staff!! If you get a dunes view stay, you are literally looking at a hill of cactus and weeds.. like a wall in front of you. Ask for a floor above 2. The breakfast is okay. Vending for snacks , ice and vending for drinks are all on different floors. Parking is tight. Very clean! Room was spacious. The bathroom is terrible !"

Mariner Inn and Suites
2/10 Terrible
"Overall this place was disgusting and not maintained. The staff didn’t seem to care. When we first got there we were notified our room was ready and when we went up the door was wide open and the room was still in use and not cleaned. We went down and told them and waited another hour for a room which was extremely hot. The room had no working ac and there was a little plug in unit which did absolutely nothing. There was a dead cockroach by the bed and nothing looked like it was cleaned correctly. On our 3rd day we received a text for room service and we said yes that we needed new towels, etc. They never came the whole time we were there. The pictures that are advertised are nothing that you will be staying in. It took everything in me not to demand a refund."

Sea Ranch Resort
8/10 Good
"Nice stay nothing fancy ! Staff was very friendly!! Would stay again!"

Hotel Manteo, Trademark Collection by Wyndham
4/10 Poor
"Hotel description was woefully inaccurate. There is no beach access (and consequently no beach bar), and the pool seems to be permanently closed. Not being familiar with the area, we unfortunately relied on Expedia to provide accurate information. I’m assuming the photos provided are AI or must be from another property entirely since they depict the property as beach adjacent. Wyndham has “updated” the finishes in the rooms, but has done so poorly such that the old finishes show through gaps in the new surfaces. The bathrooms have not been renovated at all, and the first floor doors are badly water damaged. Frankly, both Wyndham and Expedia should be ashamed, but apparently they feel entitled to provide the lowest quality possible and expect customers to be grateful for it. Would not recommend."

Mia's Boutique Hotel
8/10 Good
"Beautiful view of the ocean. Pool was in a different location than our hotel, which is definitely not convenient. Bathroom could have been cleaner- mold on the tiles. The balcony and view were my favorite part of the experience. Very pet friendly, which we absolutely loved. Great location, we walked to the pier and a few restaurants. I would come back again."

John Yancey Oceanfront Inn
10/10 Excellent
"We had a great time and are definitely considering coming back next year!"

Travelodge by Wyndham Outer Banks/Kill Devil Hills
6/10 Okay
"Carpet was old and needs to be replaced. Pool was nice but it rained during our entire visit. Location was great. Close to ocean and shopping."

Colonial Inn Motel
10/10 Excellent
"Quaint hotel with friendly staff, right on the beach. The only downside was the parking which can be tight on a summer weekend!"

Hilton Vacation Club Beachwoods Kitty Hawk
4/10 Poor
"There are so many bugs! Yes the resort is set in the woods but we didn't expect so many bugs in the rooms! Everything from spiders to rolly bugs to flies. No room service which was surprising for a Hilton and the front desk doesn't tell you. If you open the entry door be quick to close it otherwise the smoke detector goes off due to the quick temperature change. Pool towels had to be checked out and returned from the indoor pool. Otherwise it was nice to have a beach parking lot and the outdoor pool was nice. It would have been better to rent a local house."
