Conestoga Ranch

"Conestoga Ranch is unlike any other accommodation. Truly unique experience staying in one of the wagons. I was a solo traveller and wanted somewhere offering a more laid back atmosphere. You could call the whole site very much a 'glamping' site, as the wagons and tents offer way more than traditional camping does, in the way of electricity and towels on offer, as well as on site shop and restaurant. The site is well maintained and has a very peaceful feeling. Very accomodating to families, its very much an outdoors-y type of stay. Nice touch offering marshmallows and sticks on arrival for toasting on the fires outside the wagons. The staff come and light for you if you text message the front desk. On check in, they are very strict about the rules of the fires and how no speaker/music to be played on site, which felt a bit preachy. They have UTV buggy vehicles to drive you around site which is great if you have heavy luggage. The wagons are baking hot in the midday sun, but it gets totally freezing during the night. They have warm blankets to help with this inside the waggons. I found it weird they didn't offer keys to lock the doors, I had to ask reception for the keys, so they are so you have to be very trusting of others in the site. I had personal expensive cameras that I wanted to know was safely locked. There's not loads to do in Bear Lake, a very water sports based town with only 4/5 restaurants. I would recommend this place for a charming 1 night only stopover."
