Staff were friendly and helpful. Stayed one night (2 kids - 2 queens). Very comfy bed, generous checkout time at midday and flexible valet as we collected our car at 2:30pm after exploring Portland and heading onto our next pit stop. Very clean and had everything we needed. Had we stayed longer we’d have checked out the pool.

Quite simply one of the loveliest, friendliest hotels I've stayed in for a while - helped by being in the most beautiful of cities. Friendly staff, great decor, spaces to read and work and good food. Room was lovely and spacious.

The room was lovely, it was clean, spacious and extremely comfortable. The hotel is beautifully maintained.There is a fire pit, lit every evening,visible from the bedroom window,a nice feature, The staff were very welcoming too. The hotel is also in a good location. Received a warm welcome from the new owner/hosts of this Inn which we were using as a stopover for one night.Our room was comfy and spotlessly clean,and,following a good nights sleep we were presented with an excellent Breakfast,the sconesbaked by Bill were some of the best we've eaten,and that is a big compliment having years of experience of Cream Teas in Devon/Cornwall in the UK.Our visit at James Place was relaxing and full filling(Breakfast that is).We would recommend heartily to anyone...
