"Easy parking for a few cars, The Castle Hotel is a good place to stop in the area. The staff were very helpful and the check in and out was very easy but the rooms and amenities would benefit from a bit of maintenance and a deep clean."

"Absolutely delightful hotel. Me and a friend booked a room each for the Hay Festival, and we couldn’t have been happier with our stay. The staff were wonderful; helpful, friendly, even showed us to our rooms. The location was great, not too far away but far enough that I’d was quiet and tranquil. The breakfast is well worth the money, as is the Old Barn pub across the road, where we ate that night. A fantastic stay, I can’t wait to return with my husband next time."

"The team who served me were helpful and friendly. The guy who checked me in was efficient and really nice, so the procvess was quick but he made me feel very welcome. I had dinner and breakfast and enjoyed both."

"Parking is an issue at this hotel. Room was clean and comfortable. Food at the function I attended was very good considering the numbers involved. Some training of the serving staff might help. One of them knocked my drink over, said "Sorry" and that was that. Drinks were very pricey."

"Wagon was in a lovely location on a farm and owner was very nice, once I managed to find the farm , but checking in time or instructions would have been helpful . Bed was comfortable and I did appreciate the tea, sugar and milk provided , but the room itself was quite cold -with one tiny inadequate heater . Bathroom was also very cold and smelled very damp and unfortunately the toilet seat was loose and shooting off to one side. "

"A very pleasant surprise as a solo guest. Needed an overnight stay for an event in Abergavenny, went with no expectations, just needed a comfortable, clean place and that's what I got. Yes the place needs a bit of tidying up, decorating, updating of furniture but that doesn't bother me as long as everything works for it's purpose which it did. "Great location. Quiet area. Good value for money. Ideal size for a couple. Pet friendly. Perfect base for hiking as only a short drive to popular peaks. Parking tricky due to narrow street, limited spaces. Kitchen basically a conservatory, so most of the day time difficult to spent time in due to heat (late June). Would be very cosy in winter, autumn or early spring. "
