"I arrived from St. Louis late Friday night, May 22. Uber dropped me off at the lobby about 11:30 and I checked in. I was told my building was the last one all the way down on the complex so I walked. 3 buildings in the dark. This would not have typically bothered me, however, I had all of my luggage, I was dressed up and alone. Come to find out, there was a Goth Convention going on at the hotel this weekend. Being a single woman traveling alone, I was uncomfortable, even frightened by what I saw on the way to my room. I chose to stay somewhere else on Saturday night since I wasn’t comfortable. Came back Sunday late morning and stayed at the Handlery Sunday night. I checked out Monday morning. I did not attempt to change my reservation at all because it was my daughter‘s graduation, we didn’t have time, and I didn’t want to make anything of it since I was there to celebrate her! I’m not sure what else I can say but that I won’t be back. The rooms were clean and seemed well equipped with necessities. I just have to think hard about places I stay when I’m by myself/ safety is a BIG concern. Thank you for your time. Tracy Schumacher 314-615-6401"

"The hotel was very pretty. The rooms are so big, clean, and nice. The windows was very dirty. The smell of smoking was everywhere even in the room. you can smell the smoke. I couldn’t sleep because of the smoke. The pool was not deep enough for swimming. But it was nice and warm. Food choice is not enough."

"Loved the club house with games bathroom snack bar!! Loved the laid back relax feel at the pools and different variety. The restaurant food was very good and activities for families and volleyball and pickle ball and golf! Staff was super friendly and helpful. Great stay!"

California Suites Hotel

"Good stay for the price. Good location and proximity to the surrounding beaches. The only thing for us is that there were only latches on the window to close also with a broken screen, no rod to keep it closed, and we were on the ground floor so it felt slightly unsafe to open when our room became stuffy at night. There was an AC unit that helped though. We also had a garbage can right outside our window where my husband had to move it away the second night because people were using it all night and it was noisy. Overall our stay was good just those two things, but we would stay again."
