"There are limited hotel options in Merced and most are close to the freeway. HIE was nice, clean and convenient with limited traffic noise. I don’t have high expectations for free hotel breakfast but here it was pretty good. Lots of choices. Biscuits were fantastic and the bacon was crispy! Lots to of parking and the area seemed a lot safer than the hotels on Motel Row. A lot quieter than the El Cap, which we love. If you are coming up to UC Merced, this is not a bad choice."

"This is one of worse hotel I ever booked, actually, they never allowed me to stay there because they overbooked and just canceled my reservation when I got there, they told me that I should just stay in motel 6 instead, no apologies from them for their mistake that allowed overbooked and cancelled customer reservations just houra befor I checked in, they even said since I booked through 3rd party agent like Expedia, so they are not responsible for my cancellation. "Parking was available and convinient. Staff was very nice and helpful/accommodating. Waffles and coffee for breakfast were my fav. They did have omelets and potatoes as well, my kids liked the potatoes. Room was good, the bathroom did not have a fan. There were also no extra garbage bags, since they only came to clean the room every other day. The pool area could have been a little cleaner.
