Many need a bath and a little medical care, in my opinion, but they were a joy to see whenever we came and went. The wifi did not work in our room at all. "Loved everything about this magical little hotel in the caves of matera. My only complaint is that the locals of matera seem to hate tourists, very rude. One guy even told us all tourists are not welcome. Very sad bc it seems tourism would be one of the main drivers of the economy there. I read the book by Carlo Levi and it seems there was pure poverty until a few decades ago. Very sad but beautiful town."
