The room was very clean .The hosts had cake for us ,which was very nice ,thank you.No complaints about the propertyat all One thing I would like to mention though was ,there were 3 adults and we only had the one key to share amongst us, which made it a little difficult if one wanted to stay out later or go out .Mr Giannis was very detailed in his messages about where to park,which was VERY helpful.He also sent us a message for the morning of departure which was great as we were able to bring the car into the old town to load our luggage.

We absolutely loved our stay at Polyxenia Suites! Giannis was such a kind and gracious host. He was very flexible with us and always quick to respond. We loved the personal touches: delicious coffee and homemade wine and cake from his mother and family. The view of the city is beautiful and the AC was a life saver. We had everything we needed for a wonderful vacation in Crete and look forward to staying here again in the future.

Great location in old town. Walkable to all attractions, restaurants and shopping. Spacious room with a balcony overlooking the city and great mosque. Our host is extremely friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

The hospitality was fantastic, the room was spacious and clean, and the area is great! Parking was a bit tough, but that goes with staying in such a great location.

Central location & great host

Really friendly host, loved the extra touches of wine & home made cake. Room is nice with an excellent balcony, only negative is the bed isn't the best I've ever slept on.

Very central apartment. Great stay, with a large room, comfortable bed and good shower. Had an initial issue with the Wi-Fi where we had to use my data, and also one day when we got back and the air con would even switch one then miraculously it did. Not sure if was on a timer or was it a temporary issue. Didn’t spoil the stay

Gyannis was lovely and left us homemade wine, Raki and sweet treats in our room. He even brought us eggs from his parents farm! Fantastic location and we loved enjoying a drink out on the balcony before dinner.

We had the apartment on the top floor.It has a superb view on Rethymno. The terrace offers different views of the city. There are plenty of good restaurants (only 25 euros for 2 persons) nearby. Museums are a few minutes walk. If you arrive from Heraklion airport, take a local public airport bus to city center, then take KTEL bus to Rethymno (see Google Maps). Arriving there, take a taxi (7 euros) to the hotel. Note that depending on the hours during the day, a taxi might not arrive at the front of the hotel due to Old City regulations. Our host Giannis is very kind and helpful. We love Rethymno and this hotel, we hope to return in the future.

The absolute best!

If 20 stars were an option I would give them all. Honestly the best, most genuine hotel experience we’ve ever had. If only all hotels could still be like this. Small scale, personal, very caring owners (Gianni and his mom), thoughtful touches, and amazingly central location and unbeatable view. We had our baby with us and a crib was set up and he got to eat homemade cake and homegrown eggs from Gianni’s mother. The location was also just perfect for a baby with a big square next door, a playground a short walk away, and quiet streets all around. In the evening music plays on the street and we got to enjoy it from our balcony while our amazing little one slept.

Giannis and his mother were very welcoming and we were grateful to Giannis for helping us so willingly with our bags. We had a lovely balcony overlooking the charming street and mosque and were touched that we were given freshly baked Greek cakes on our first morning and complimentary Raki and another liquor in our room. Very nice touch.. we had 3 rooms so plenty of space. The negatives were difficulty with opening doors with the keys given, the hairdryer didn’t seem to work and a rather makeshift blind in the twin room where we slept.

Emplacement idéal dans un hôtel familiale

Un accueil idéal et chaleureux dans cet hôtel familiale. La chambre est très spacieuse et l’emplacement idéal. La petite terrasse est agréable et on y déguste avec plaisir le vin maison et le gâteau fait maison qui nous a été offert. Nous reviendrons.

Charming, central hotel but far from parking

This hotel is very charming and centrally located in old town Rethymno, and it’s a great deal. Our room (the big suite with two bedrooms) had such a lovely wraparound balcony as well. My only gripe —and this isn’t the hotel’s fault—is that there is no parking nearby (paid or free) and nowhere within less than a 5 min walk to pull up a car so if you have lots of luggage like we did it can be a bit of a hassle. There IS a big free parking lot within about a 10 min walk, however, so if you don’t have much stuff then it’s not a big deal (and if you’re not renting a car then this whole part of the review is irrelevant but I highly recommend renting a car in Crete!).
