"Did just the job - perfect for what was required"

"The room was not serviced on two days out of four - the reason given was that the housekeeper did not work those days. The restaurant was closed for evening meals at short notice. The entrance door was closed and locked early in the evening and my keys did not work on occasions."

"Friendly staff but a bit slapdash at breakfast, rooms comfortable but south facing rooms need a portable aircon unit when warmer outside as the room was stiflingly hot despite window open and fan on. Excellent food which we could not fault for two nights dinner."

"Room were clean, but the best times of this place already have passed. Service didn’t exist much. We arrived late and a document and keys were at the reception. We informed before that we arrive around 11 pm. Nobody was available at reception to welcome us and show our rooms. We spend about 1/2 hour to figure out were our rooms were, exploring the entire ground floor area and first floor. "The room had a great view, was small but comfortable, and the bathroom had been updated. Evening meal, breakfast staff were friendly and polite. The car park had limited spaces. As other guests have mentioned, the stairs to the rooms are steep and numerous"

"Aberdour is a lovely little old gem in an idyllic neighborhood, close to the train station. It’s run by the inimitable Amanda, who is the best host I’ve ever met. The place is older, and a bit frayed- but in the way the Velveteen Rabbit is frayed. It’s a lovely old place, simple, clean and cared for, and I was immediately made to feel that I was also cared for. The beds are comfortable. "The Hill Hotel was a great. Everything was immaculate . Location was great as well. Less than a 5 minute walk from train station and very close to town. The owners Lynne and Terry were fabulous host. Hopefully going back to Scotland in couple of years and will definitely stay here again."

"We felt right at home from the moment we met Freda outside her lovely B&B. Our room was clean and cool, bathroom was very nice as well. Big TV and coffee & Tea on our table. The house itself is very charming and historic. The next day we were greeted by a hearty and delicious homemade breakfast by Freda, we even got to meet Gypsy! Her sweet doggie. We loved our short time in Dumfries, I hope we make our way back there again. We will definitely be staying at the Huntigdon once more"
