10/10 Excellent

"What a wonderful stay in an ancient building. The staff was friendly and courteous, and it was a beautiful reminder of the magnificence of what is Mont St Michel. Simple, compact rooms that you would expect in an inn that is of this age. A wonderful place to be after the craziness of the tour buses leave for the day and you are there with the other guests staying on the island and the locals themselves. Did want to point out that parking is an absolute disaster. I stayed on the mount 17 years ago and was able to pull right up to the causeway. Now you have to, and it was not clear to us in any of the communications, that you have to find a particular parking lot, I think we parked in lot number three, get a code to get into the lot from someone at the hotel, then take a shuttle bus to the island, so make sure you have everything you need out of your vehicle. Having to do this ate a good deal of our vacation day, especially since we had no idea we had to do it in the first place. Giving everyone else a heads up here to expect that that is what happens there these days. Gone are the days where it wasn't overrun with tourists and their vehicles. It also is not clear as to where on the causeway you were supposed to go to get back on the shuttle to get back to your car. We stopped at 3 other buses and they were all refusing to let us on because they weren't currently either going to the parking lot, or facing the right direction to go to the parking lot."

"While our triple room in the Red House was comfortable, I don't think the higher prices of La Mère Poulard warrants a return for me. Although breakfast was included, it does NOT include the famous omelets of the restaurant. In fact, even though we arrived well before closing time, many breakfast items were already finished, and the service suffered from being understaffed (as seems to be the problem in all of Mont St. Michel). The check-in process was confusing and unclear since we were not given the code for entering the hotel parking lot where we were to leave our car upon approaching. The receptionist was not very friendly in instructing us where we could find an open restaurant to still get a meal near 9 PM. Thankfully, the hotel right up the street was still open and welcoming. And finally, the entrance vestibule area of the Red House needs to be cleaned of the smell of cat pee. All in all, not worth the high price."

"Great location, very helpful staff, breakfast was okay. Would have been nice to have a dinner restaurant in the hotel. We struggled with the language barrier when dining around town. Had the best meal of our entire trip at the American Hotel and Restaurant (very close to hotel) - need to be aware that the good ones close for a couple of days a week."

"I've traveled to almost every country in Europe and when I say this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at I mean this is the worst hotel you could possibly stay at. For 3 summer months out of the year they don't have air conditioning in the rooms or the general hotel itself. The staff is rude and unprofessional. I saw some people what appeared to be having heat stroke. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Have I stayed in bad hotels? Sure. Have I ever stayed in a worse hotel outside of a motel. Absolutely not. It was dirty climbing with bugs everywhere. You cannot ear or drink without having insects all over you snd your food smothering you. For a place that gets that much business you would think they would afford air conditioning in the summer months. It was 93 depressed and in the month of May when I went. I eventually left 5 hours later and went down the street to a place that was ¹/4th the price and had A/C and staff was actually friendly and place was clean. HIGHLY HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND."

"Property is listed as A/C conditioning equipped, not all, this is a misleading statement. No A/C at the Property. No refrigerator either. Location is excellent!!!, Mount Saint Michel at walking distance!!!, breakfast is overrated, small variety and market items, not local made. Parking is plenty at the property. Pay as you go through the gate."

"The check-in time is not very convenient. Guests can only enter from 5pm, and check-out is at 10am, which feels quite restrictive for a short stay. The swimming pool is also quite limited in terms of usage. If you arrive at check-in time, you only have around two hours to enjoy it, as it closes at 7pm. This makes it difficult to properly make use of the facilities, especially for travellers who want to relax after arriving."
