"It’s a house near the national museum in an area with many embassies. We arrived during cyclone ditmah so there were lots of fallen trees and water but still found it walkable. Staff were friendly and able to arrange tuktuk ride. Breakfast was our first experience of Sri Lankan food and was serviceable in retrospect. There are many cafes nearby. "

No beach at the hotel, despite its name, but a beautiful private one with food and drink 15 mins away on a shuttle bus which goes once an hour. Small criticism, the step from the main room into the bathroom was a bit unexpected and potentially hazardous. Also all the glass in the bathroom area was perhaps a bit strange. "

"Very cool, obviously was an incredible place back in the day, we enjoyed our stay in the royal suite, some of the decor needs a bit of attention if its going to be a proper 5 star. Worth the money all in all and I would atay again."

"At check-in, we were told our room was not ready even though we arrived 2 hrs after check in time, when I questioned why that was the case for a “5 star” hotel, they miraculously found another room available to give us, figure that! There were plenty of friendly staff, but they were not attentive. We had dinner in the Indian restaurant - good quality and nice food. Overall, I would say “faded glory” in style and character - may not stay again here."
