The chairs outside were also very dirty, and there was a terrible smell on the balcony. The table outside was broken. "I understand that it was Ramadan. But I ought to be able to secure a cup of coffee in the dining area. There were no staff on hand & the garbage can behind the counter was overflowing. I had to go to the front desk & remind the manager that some sort of service must be in place for non-Muslims. The clerk rang a bell & ten minutes later a guy comes out & starts moving the chairs & mopping the floor. It was maladroit. I paid for a continental breakfast. I would have been happy if they had brewed a pot of coffee. But they couldn’t even do that. It’s a sad situation in Beruit. It’s going to fall apart."
