clean and spacious room from 1970

Room was very clean and tidy, lots of space and only £10 a night each for me and a friend. We had our own room each, lounge and kitchen. Decor was tired and from the 1970's but was well kept and did I mention clean. The hotel wasn't operating at full capacity as it was out of season so there were no facilities in operation apart from the tennis courts. I really liked it here and for the cost it was very reasonable indeed. I would certainly go back.

Einziger Gast im verlassenen Hotel

Ich plante 4 Tage Aufenthalt auf Malta. Ich hatte keine großen Erwartungen an das Hotel. Es handelt sich um eine grosse Anlage mit mehreren mehrgeschossigen Häusern. Die Zimmer sind aus den 70'er Jahren- endlich wieder ein 50 Hz Röhrenfernseher, der allerdings erst nach zwei Tagen antennenseitig angeschlossen wurde und eine handvoll italienischer Sender ins Haus brachte. Das Bad bedarf dringend einer Sanierung. Gelbe Silikonfugen, verrosteter Duschschlauch, zerkratzte Klobrille etc. Das Hotelrestaurant ist laut Prospekt bis zum 31.10. geöffnet (meine Aufenthaltsdauer 28.10-01.11). Das Restaurant war geschlossen, keine Frühstücksverpflegung möglich. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und Bus in etwa 15 Minuten Entfernung. Taxibestellungen von Rezeption aus möglich. Bei gleichen Zielen kosteten die von dort georderten Taxis zwischen 12 und 15 €, selbst georderte Taxis nur 8 €. Seltsam. Ich denke, dass ich in der Zeit so ziemlich der einzige Gast war.

dramatisch hotel

de kamers waren te ranzig voor woorden, het stikte er van de muggen, bloedheet slapen onmogelijk. op het verblijf kon je nog geen glaasje water krijgen maar werd je doorverwezen naar een supermarkt dat een kwartier lopen was. s ochtends ontbijten kon niet net zoals s middags of s avonds, terwijl er in het boekje stond dat alles tot 31 oktober open was, dus ook de poolbar, maar niks was open

Do not stay here!!

The hotel is going to be demolished and neither the current or new owners have kept up with maintenance. You have to ask for new towels and for sheets to be changed. When I advised I was going to give a bad review I was told they do not own the hotel anymore and do not care!

Rustig hotel/appartement

Dit hotel/appartementen ligt een paar kilometer van de grotere steden (St. Julians en Valletta bijvoorbeeld), maar is daardoor erg rustig. Er liggen echter genoeg busstations om het hotel heen (Korvu, Longo en Gwann). Een buskaartje kost je €2,00. Download voor je bezoel wel even de openbaar vervoersapp (Tallinga, als ik het goed schrijf). Of loop naar de receptie en zij bellen een goede en betrouwbare taxi service voor je (€12,00 voor een ritje). Het hotel zelf is wat ouderwets, maar wel goed en het personeel vriendelijk. Het water was bij ons eerst bruin, maar toen het doorgelopen was gewoon goed. Er is elke dag een schoonmaakservice die je bed etc. opmaakt. Het zwembad is schoon. Wel zijn hier veel lokale mensen die komen zwemmen. Mocht je naar Sundown raad ik aan om een auto erbij te huren. Dit scheelt je veel reizen met de bus en taxi.

Week in Malta

I chose the sundown for its location in San gwann as we were visiting relatives. Don't expect this to be a top class hotel. It's exactly what it says it is. Dated and in need of modernising but very clean and with helpful staff. I would stay again as it was very reasonably priced. In town without many shops nearby though. Only draw back for me is bed was not great as I'm used too memory foam mattress. All in all very pleased with apartment no frills but a solid base as described

Привет из 70-х !!!!!!!

Очень странный отель во всех смыслах - наверно его как построили в 70-х годах прошлого века, так больше рука человека не притрагивалась к нему!!!! :))) Реально старый и обветшалый отель, на твердую тройку. Вроде все есть - и горячая вода, и чистое белье, и чистый большой бассейн - но все равно общее ощущение старья... Сам отель - это несколько 3-хэтажных корпусов на одной улице, объединенные большой общей внутренней территорией с 2-мя бассейнами. До ближайших культурных мест далеко, до продуктовых магазов далеко... Здесь есть смысл жить только имея машину или мотоцикл. WiFi в номерах нет. На 1-м этаже даже в солнечный день приходиться включать свет, потому что так много деревьев и зелени, что темновато... Зато на 3-м этаже круто - светло и можно загорать на большом балконе... В зачет только реально низкая стоимость, большие номера и кухня в каждом номере, и бесплатная парковка...

In need of a serious upgrade in all areas

We have stayed in this pace in the past but this hotel complex is in desperate need of upgrade in all areas. we also noted that most of the rooms appear to be rented out to students, the common areas to the block of flats where we stayed smelt bad and unclean. the hotel staff are nice and friendly and helpful too. We also had to pay for the WIFI in the flat and there is a charge to use the safe. Our fridge needed cleaning on the outside and inside; cooker rings did not work well, second bathroom had a water leak from the toilet which kept the floor wet. the flats are in serious need of updating.......... we would like to go back as it is convenient but it needs to be done up and please clean the pool, no-one wants to see green algae in a pool.

E vero chè non è stata una sorpresa visto chè le recensioni erano abbastanza chiare, ma qualche volta lo sono meno. Ma questa volta erano ancora peggio non so da che parte iniziare , perciò non faccio un elenco di cose negative ma dirò le cose positive ........me nè venuta il mente una forse il prezzo, ma ho dei dubbi , avrebbero dovuto pagarci per rimanere la . Comunque da sconsigliare a chiunque DA ELIMINARE COME PROPOSTA DI SOGGIORNO .

Hotelli alkaa olla remontin tarpeessa kaikin osin. Sijaitsee rauhallisessa paikassa Kapparan kukkulan alapäässä, hiukan syrjemmässä Slieman hälystä. HUOM! erittäin vaikea kulkuisen liikenneympyrän takia, hotellista on vaikea jalkaisin lähteä liikenteeseen´ja bussi kulkee tunnin välein.En menisi toista kertaa.

Good place to stay for a budget trip

Do not go to this hotel if you are looking for 5-star luxury or spa-style comfort. It's a cheap hotel that, I believe, gives excellent value for money. Four of us stayed for a long weekend in October. We were looking for a no-nonsense place to sleep, essentially, so I was positively surprised by the experience. The room (E40) was a two-bed apartment with a simple kitchen and living/dining room. It had two bathrooms, which was unexpected, and two balconies big enough for all four of us to stand on without feeling squished. In total it was about 600 sq ft, so quite roomy. The decoration was ancient, at a guess late 1970s, and it takes some getting used to. But it was very clean and tidy (it got a quick clean every day we were there). There was a lot of space and easily enough furniture to be comfortable. Everything worked - sockets, sinks, fridge, freezer etc. Outside, there are two large pools and beach towels are available for a €5 deposit. The staff, particularly at reception, were very unpretentious and friendly. There is wifi in reception (not in rooms) and it was slow, but we were able to get a few vital work emails done so tolerable. We didn't try the food. Sundown Court is excellent value for money - not much more than a hostel bed. Perfect for people who don't mind simple no-nonsense accommodation.

Bäcksvart vid ankommst, ingen pil eller anvisning till var receptionen låg, ingen som visade i vilken byggnad rummet fanns, toaletten gick inte att använda. Vi kom till hotellet runt 23.00

Clean and Basic

Quiet, clean and low cost. Good if you want basic. Clean room and facilities. Dated decor. Really poor air con. Good distance from restaurants, bars and shops in Sliema and St Julian's. Great if you don't want to spend much time at the resort.

Needs updating

Upon our arrival we were upgraded to the Penthouse which was very spacious , 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, lounge/diner, kitchen and huge terrace. Whilst the rooms were immaculately clean they are in desperate need of updating. The bedding is the same as when we first visited 23years ago, no air conditioning and the cooker is very difficult to control ! One thing that I was not impressed with was the management of the pool area and bad which has been leased to a 3rd party who was very rude , playing very loud music for the majority of the day/evening and cavorting around the place drinking - not at all professional. As we were only staying for 3 nights for a family wedding it was not too much of a problem, but would make me think twice about returning for a holiday!

Hotel simple et confortable

Hotel simple et agrèable pour un séjour à Malte. En retrait du front de mer, mais au moins c'est calme et les deux piscines font largement l'affaire. Les bus sont un peu loin de l'hotel (10 min de marche) mais ça n'effraiera pas les vacanciers aguerris.

Not recommended

Awful - the receptionist was uninterested and didn't tell us anything about where to go or how to get to our room, and when we got to the room then tried to go back down to the lobby the elevator didn't work and there were no connecting stairs. We eventually (after half an hour of trying to get from our room to the lobby) went out a fire escape, luckily it didn't set off the alarms for the building, got back to the lobby. I argued with the receptionist who said it was "hotel policy" to turn off the lift after a certain time (madness) and even it it was policy he should have told me that's what happens so I wasn't trying to get downstairs for half an hour. The rooms were ridiculously outdated and hot and stuffy and there was no air-con.

Pas de restaurant comme annoncé ! Pas de petit déjeuné; Loin de tout, pas de transport sauf le taxi. Beaucoup de choses à revoir. (sanitaire, services, piscine etc....)

Eher ruhig gelegene Anlage, abseits der Partymeile

Schöne Anlage, die etwas in die Jahre gekommen ist. Ausstattung des Appartements zweckmäßig, aber zum Teil etwas abgewohnt. Handtücher und Bettwäsche wurden in einer Woche 3x gewechselt , die letzten Frottiertücher waren aber dünn und ausgefranst. Es gibt keine Beschattungsmöglichkeit auf den Balkons, bei uns keine Balkonmöbel und keine Klimaanlage. Die beiden Pools sind schön, werden offensichtlich von anderen Personen als den Hotelgästen wie ein öffentliches Schwimmbad genutzt. Speziell am Wochenende war es dort voll und relativ laut. Die Leute an der Rezeption waren hilfsbereit und freundlich. Das Restaurant bietet die landestypischer Burger- und Pastagerichte, gegessen haben wir dort nicht. Die Leute an der Poolbar waren nicht freundlich. Man sollte sich auf jeden Fall ein Fahrzeug mieten. Die nächste Bushaltestelle, von der aus man mehrere Buslinien nutzen kann, ist 10 Fußminuten entfernt. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten sind knapp 10 Fußminuten weit weg.
