At check-in, I paid the sanitation fee in USD. The front desk clerk gave me change in pesos, which was fine—but the amount was incorrect. When I questioned it, she became visibly upset and insisted her calculation was right. After I used my own calculator to show the correct exchange based on the resort’s stated rate, she reluctantly gave me additional pesos, but the interaction felt unprofessional. She also spoke to other staff in Spanish in a way that felt dismissive and excluding.
Since the resort charges for all-inclusive access before check-in, I had to pay separately for breakfast while waiting. The $20 USD breakfast was not worth the cost.
The property itself is clearly outdated and not accurately represented in photos. There were visible maintenance issues, including falling tiles at the beach bar and poor overall upkeep. The drinks were watered down and lacked flavor—even the mint used in mojitos tasted spoiled.
The most concerning experience happened on my last day. I went to the dining area about 20 minutes before opening to see if I could grab something quickly before my flight. After being told by the concierge that it was okay to go in, I witnessed a staff member drop serving tongs on the floor and then place them back on the cold food bar without cleaning them.
