Nice historical building... Restaurant pricey compared with other local establishments. The room I booked on Expedia was already given away when I arrived. Had to split into two rooms which was ideal with kids but worked out. Pool area was nice and very clean. Kids enjoyed.

That resort facility is the crown jewel of Fogo’s tourism. Their breakfast is exceptional and their staff are always ready and very professional. I’m looking forward to stay there again soon. It’s a highly recommended Hotel for people visiting the island. Thanks for the great service provided to me.

The Colonial Guest House
The hotel is old colonial style and lovely. Bathroom is separated from the room. Patio and garden is nice and charming. The only issue here is wifi does not work in the room only outside. The other problem is hotel advertise half board room price but when you check in they inform you that your maximum spend limit escudo 1,200 up to 1,500 which equals to roughly EUR12-15. If you go over the limit you have to pay. That does not make half board. Half board is when lunch or dinner is included without limit. The hotel has to fix this issue as it is misleading and false advertising. Other than that it was nice staying here

Hôtel au charme ancien. Ambiance pleine d’histoire Prestations coloniales mais très sympathique accueil attentionné et répondant aux demandes (garde des bagages, Check out spécial) jolie expérience bien plus mémorable qu’hôtels modernes mais sans charme ni identité Le dîner était très satisfaisant bon service et qualité tout à fait correcte Un hôtel recommandé et que nous visiterons à nouveau si nous revenons à Fogo. Merci

Très bel endroit Accueil égal zéro, on ne peut pas obtenir d’informations sur la ville et toute autre information touristique, pas de plan de la ville Zéro sourire à notre arrivée, On a même essayé de nous mettre dans l’annexe sans nous demander notre avis Le mode de management se lit sur la tristesse général qui se dégage du personnel Plusieurs chambres ont une salle de bain tout à fait à part de la chambre et s inondé facilement

Rapport qualité/prix excellent. Cette hôtel n’est pas en bord de mer mais quand même à environ cinq minutes de marche. Nous sommes environ 12 minutes de marche de centre-ville Santa Maria. Très bien pour Deux ou trois jours

Super Hotel in bester Lage und mit besten Service
Wir haben uns in diesem kleinen Hotel sehr wohl gefühlt. Das alte Kolonialhaus hat einfach Charme, ist sehr sauber, gemütlich mit schönen kleinen Pool mit Liegen und tollen Sitzmöglichkeiten. Das Frühstück war perfekt mit warmen frisch gebackenen Brötchen, verschiedenen Eierspeisen, Käse, Wurst, Obstsalat, Kuchen, Saft, Marmeladen usw. Alles sehr lecker und reichlich. Das Abendbrot hat uns auch immer sehr gut geschmeckt. Man konnte im Rahmen der Halbpension aus der Karte wählen. Das Personal sehr kompetent und freundlich. Die Zimmer waren sehr schön eingerichtet, gemütlich mit alten Möbeln und sehr sauber. Das eigene Badezimmer war zwar über dem Gang, aber das hat nicht gestört. Es gab ja auch Bademäntel. Besonders gefallen haben uns die vielen verschiedenen gemütlichen modernen Sitzmöglichkeiten im Innenhof und am Pool, so daß man sich immer irgendwo draußen aufhalten konnte. Die Besitzer tun alles, damit sich die Gäste wohl fühlen. Auch organisieren Sie Ausflüge und Transfers.

Au top!
Hôtel et restaurant au top dans une superbe ancienne maison coloniale. Très bon pied à terre sur cette île avant ou après la dure montée du pico de fogo. Petit plus: piscine et terrasse très agréables!

Nice hotel, would come again
We really had a nice stay. The hotel has charm and ver friendly staff. Only thing to complain about were the mattresses. Other than that we were perfectly happy.

Hübsches Haus im Kolonialstil, zentral gelegen
Der Check-in ist am selben Desk wie das Reisebüro. Man hat uns erstmal nicht beachtet. Nach längerem Warten auf unser gebuchtes Zimmer, hat man uns dann ein anderes nicht gleichwertiges Zimmer gegeben. Insgesamt war wenig Interesse an Gästen vorhanden. Schade, denn es ist ein tolles Haus im Kolonialstil mit Flair, Gastfreundlichkeit hat aber keine hohe Priorität

Very nice hotel, excellent breakfast
The hotel is very well located, in the heart of the city, not too far from the beach. Wonderful island where we can walk to the volcano. People at the restaurant are vey nice and helpful. High quality.

Casa Colonial was just beautiful, we enjoyed our stay a lot. The place is very nicely decorated, the staff was nice, breakfast was good and the location was also good in the center of Sao Filipe.

Beautiful place in the middle of town.
The owner was fantastic - very hands on to ensure everything was satisfactory. When my taxi did not arrive, he even gave me a ride to the airport to ensure I caught my flight.

bad value for money
Although the atmosphere of the guesthouse and additional service (bar, travel agency) appears quite charming at the first glance, there is problem with the rooms: getting one of the rooms w/ air condition, the air con was very loud and we were overtaken by cockroaches in our room as well as the bathroom (the bathroom was not attached to the bedroom so we had to cross the floor open to every guest). During the day we did not spot the cockroaches, but during the nght there were several. The accomodation is defenitely not worth the price. We found a different hotel w/ air con, clean and without any bugs, the size of the room was much larger and we paid less.

Hôtel très bien placé, propre et charmant.
Très bon hôtel, avec beaucoup de charme dans une demeure coloniale. Petit bureau de tourisme au rez-de-chaussée où il est possible d'organiser son séjour et d'acheter les billets de ferry pour Praia ou Brava. Très agréable de farnienter dans un des nombreux canapés du jardin-terrasse, à l'ombre sous la toile. Excellent petit déjeuner, chambres confortables décorées avec goût.

Restored Colonial House in Sao Filipe
Staying in a colonial house in Sao Filipe that has been restored so beautifully provided us with a wonderful base from which to explore Fogo. We stayed one night in Cha and one night Sao Filipe, and are very happy that we were able to do both. Colonial Guest House offers some rooms with attached bathrooms and some without. All of those without have the bathroom located along the same corridor on the back of the hotel, which is un/locked with your personal key, so you do not have to share with others. The room is decorated with photos taken on the island and other more "historic" items, and is spacious and comfortable, for the most part. The swimming pool is a great place to unwind after a day exploring the island, as is the bar/restaurant downstairs.

Hyggeligt, hjælp til oplevelser og god mad.
Vi blev taget rigtig godt imod, af en ung kvinde som kunne lidt engelsk. Næste morgen kom hotelejeren og hilste på. Det var SKØNT endelig at tale med nogen som kunne tale engelsk men også dansk. Vi fik gode råd og havde en FANTASTISK tur op på vulkanen, med en dygtig guide fra hotellet. Han kunne også engelsk. Til morgen var der nybagte boller, hvilket var skønt og også en god kaffe. Morgenmaden blev ulige de andre hoteller vi havde været på, serveret til TIDEN. Udvalget er ikke så stort, men det er ikke pga. hotellet, med udbudet i Kap Verde generelt. Kan virkelig anbefale Fogo og hotellet.

Une valeur sûre
Le style colonial nous a beaucoup plu, la chambre était très spacieuse. Le personnel est très accueillant et disponible. Les points négatifs, la salle de bain est à l'extérieur de la chambre et les femmes de ménage n'y passe pas tous les jours. Présence de la faune locale (cafards). Des chiens qui aboient régulièrement la nuit. Ceci dit, nous sommes satisfait de notre séjour dans cet hôtel.

Gutes Hotel für einige Tage auf Fogo
Das Hotel ist für den Besuch auf Fogo ideal. Der Standard entspricht guten kapverdischen Verhältnissen. Leider ist das Hotel und die angebotenen Ausflüge etwas überteuert. Wie die gesamte Insel sind alle auf Geld aus. Das Personal ist freundlich und hilfsbereit, obwohl es relativ schwirig war sich mit Englisch zu verständigen. Ein grosses Lob geht an Carlos. Er ist darauf bedacht einenguten Service anzubieten und war immer hilfsbereit. Bei der Bezahlung wollte uns das Hotel einen höheren Preis berechnen. Dank Carlos konnten wir dies aber ohne Probleme in Ordnung brigen. A big thanks to Carlos for the great service and for his help. If all service employees on Cape Verde would be like him, the stay here would have been much better.

The hotel was not too shabby in my opinion. Some of the rooms did not have A/C, but I asked for one and the employee accommodated my demand. What really impressed me is that I was leaving early the next morning and the young lady working at the restaurant prepared my breakfast for me so that I would have it first thing in the morning. Thank you very much Iz**.

Halte sereine
Bon choix pour visiter l'île de Fogo et sa capitale, Sao Filipe. Pour le Cap Vert, bon rapport qualité-prix. Halte paisible dans ces vacances (nous sommes restées cinq jours à Fogo, dans cet hôtel).

Perfect base for Fogo, Cape Verde
After 10 days on the Cape Verde Island and 2 other hotels, we were glad to have spent most of the time at the Colonial Guest House at the heart of Sao Felipe city on Fogo Island. Not speaking Portuguese may limit your ability to reach out or even find the most exotic spots on the Island. The Guest house is a perfect base for your adventures, as the European owner also holds a small tour/travel agency, and guided tours at a higher level brings you effectively to the right places for relaxing, hiking, photographing etc. Staff is very helpful in all languages : English, French, Portuguese, German and even Danish. Restaurant is very cosy, shielded and relaxing. Investing in property/land seems lucrative for the first movers. No TV in the room, but didn't miss it anyhow.

Mooi, schoon hotel in centrum
Het is een kleinschalig hotel met mooie, schone kamers in een oud koloniaal pand midden in het centrum van Sao Filipe. Veel restaurants in de buurt. Beneden is een lounge met schaduw. Transfers van en naar het vliegveld zijn inbegrepen, al werden wij helaas niet opgehaald, ondanks dit te hebben doorgegeven. Zeer lekker ontbijt.

Very welcoming and well organised
Helga was great at explaining everything, giving us tips about the town and organising excursions/ hikes, matching us with a couple who she thought we would get on with and we did! It also helped reduce the cost. The building is beautiful, retaining so much character, while providing en suite bathrooms (though I understand that is not the case for every room) and a small pool on the 1st floor. Altogether a great way to visit Fogo.

Un magnifique hôtel en plein cœur de la très belle ville de São Filipe. Bar-restaurant très agréable avec une belle terrasse, piscine à l'étage, salon de massage et chambres très jolies. Bref je vous le recommande…

paradis du calme
Voyage de calme et détente, île parfaite sous cet angle, j'ai pu visiter le volcan,la ville et faire le tour de l'île. Simplicité à connaître, les îles du cap vert peuvent manquer parfois d'eau, d'eau chaude, ou d'électricité.

Superbe !
Nous avons séjourné 2 nuits à l'hôtel Colonial Guest House of Fogo. Nous avons été très bien accueillis par la gérante Helga, par le propriétaire Vincent et par le personnel, tous très sympathiques, sociables et serviables. Il s'agit d'un très bel hôtel cosy et agréable : une ancienne maison coloniale très bien rénové ayant su garder son authenticité. En plein cœur de la ville de São Filipe, c'est un petit havre de paix. On y trouve une très belle piscine sur une petite terrasse à l'étage. Une agence sur place Zebratravel.net propose des excursions pour découvrir Fogo mais aussi les autres îles de l'archipel. Le seul petit B-mol que nous pourrions évoquer serait le manque de climatisation, mais un ventilateur est mis à disposition dans les chambres. Aussi, le charme de cet endroit nous a vite fait oublier ce détail. Le restaurant de l'hôtel était en travaux lors de notre séjour mais nous avons tout de même pu déguster de bons petits plats et un très bon petit-déjeuner. Nous le recommandons vivement.
