"The property is clean and gorgeous, the staff were incredibly friendly, and breakfast was delicious with a great variety of options to suit everyone. We did experience a few issues with our key cards as they implemented a new system but this didn’t take away from the overall experience. Hopefully the issue has been fixed soon enough for future guests"

"Sao Miguel is small enough that you can choose one accommodation centrally located and drive the whole island. Verde Mar and Spa offers ocean views overlooking a beautiful surf beach. Included breakfast is great and in house dining is convenient after a day of touring the island. Ribeira Grande is quaint without the urban cluster of P. Delgado. The 20 minute drive to the north side of the island is certainly worth it."

Terra Nostra Garden Hotel

"We spent three nights at Terra Nostra Garden Hotel, and it was completely worth it. We booked a standard room and requested a higher floor; the professional front desk staff accommodated us with room 138 based on availability. The room had a fantastic view, though the bed was a bit small for two. The hotel was meticulously clean, and having access to the garden and thermal pools after hours was the main highlight. The grounds are magical, filled with tall, unique overgrown trees rather than just flowers. Breakfast was phenomenal, featuring fantastic à la carte eggs and omelets served by wonderful staff. The hotel's location makes walking into Furnas village very easy. Driving is manageable since most narrow streets are one-way. Parking is limited; when the overflow lot was closed one night, we parked on a nearby street—a safe 5-to-10-minute walk with plenty of space. My only caveat is that their weekly full pool cleaning is not clearly documented. While we understood the necessity after seeing how clear the water was the next day with all algae removed, a one-night guest arriving during cleaning would struggle to justify the extra cost. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we would definitely stay again."

"The staff was very friendly and helpful. Giving special thanks to Sonia. After a long flight, she was specially helpful and I highly recommend this hotel. You can park underground and walk to the city center to eat or shop. Parking is a big plus at the hotel."
