The Speech House Hotel

"We went to the speech house hotel in September 26. We had good weather which helped as we took our dog. The room was small and compact and no where to sit other than on the bed. The hotel itself looked very nice and as we had a dog we had to eat in the orangery which I'm thankful for as the other room to eat in looked very dated. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The menu was a bit limited especially if you were on a longer stay. I think the hotel would struggle to accommodate all the guests in the winter especially if it was raining as there doesn't seem to be enough rooms inside the hotel. Our stay was pleasant as we did a lot of walking so didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel other than meal times. I think the 15 pounds a day charge for a dog is a bit excessive as as we were only provided with a towel and dog bowl and most owners bring there own bedding for their dogs. We didn't think they even did the floor as there were still bits on it when coming back from a day out. Would l go there again probably if they charged a proper rate for a dog as if you went for a week it would cost you 105 pounds excessive in the least."

"I booked this as a last minute trip for me, my husband my 2 kids and my mother and it was a good price! It was one of the loveliest bungalows I have ever stayed at and would definitely book to go again. The house is super clean and a wonderful size. It had everything we need and the beds and sofa were so comfy. The waterfall shower was super cool my daughter was obsessed. The area is very quiet and serene, and as the weather was perfect we utilized sitting out on the patio every night. This is a prime location near The Forest of Dean and is near so much to see and do. Such a gem and I am glad we found it. The host was friendly, accommodating and answered any questions I had so for that alone would recommend this place."
