I’ve stayed at the Lotte at last 4 times and this will probably the last. While the staff was friendly, there are several issues with the property:
1) VIP access was not honored, except that I did receive a bottle of wine. This perk needs to be changed for those of us who have no desire to drink alone in our rooms, or drink at all for that matter.
2) There is not enough light in the room (artificial) so you can’t even think of working in the evening. There is a desk but it’s pointless because you can’t see anything.
3) I informed the front desk when I checked in that I was VIP Expedia and they said sorry we have no upgrades, which is completely fine and is clearly stated on the website. She said the hotel was booked. I then asked if I could have club access as I had had every other time I have stayed there and she said no.
4) I came to Seoul for business and needed a lobby to congregate with colleagues. How there is a lobby with nowhere to sit is unclear. The lobby is majestic but not one seat anywhere? This pushes you to go the the cafe/bar, which is OK but there was music every night which meant you could not have a space to congregate where you could have conversations.
I stayed a hotel in Busan several days before (also owned by Lotte) and this was not the case at all. Lobby was stunning and one could meet and sit there.
In sum, Lotte Hotel Seoul was a disappointment this time.
