The staff literally could not be any friendlier and are a highlight of the stay, very accommodating and go out of their way to help with any needs you may have. Place was clean;everything worked great. Had a nice bench seat outside the room to look at the mountains and relax after several hours of motorcycle riding. "Older strip type motel. That said room was clean and bed was comfortable. It was good for a couple of days that I stayed. No breakfast available at motel though they did give me a discount coupon to bar/resturant next door. "

"We booked this hotel as a half way point on our way to Niagara Falls. From the moment we checked in the staff we incredibly friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and the amenities were nice. My family enjoyed swimming in the pool. It’s near a chilis which was nice to stop and have dinner. If ever in the area again we would stay again!"

"South Shire is a quaint Victorian Inn on Elm Street within walking distance to the center of Bennington, VT. The Inn has a family feel and elegance. We traveled as a couple. It was easy to get to sites and enjoy fine restaurants. The Inn is in keeping with the feel of strength of the Bennington community, as a place for artists, musicians, and people's expression generally to thrive. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend South Shire."

"We were hoping to use the pool. It was NOT USABLE DUE TO the WATER BEING CLOUDY. The room had a bleach smell. We were promised a “free breakfast”. Instead, we received a granola bar and orange juice with mandarin orange segments at check in."

"This was the second time I’ve stayed at this location, first time under New Englander Inn name. Both times I was impressed by how clean and organized the breakfast area was. A staff member was constantly in and out cleaning up and restocking the breakfast items."

"The door handle and door mechanism in my room was covered in dust. The door to the bathroom had a hard time closing because it was warped. There was a large stain on the rug. There was a spider on the curtains. I left after one night of a two night stay."
