Ryokan in Somerset

"Upon arrival it became apparent very quickly that the property doesn’t match the reviews given. Staff were friendly but a shoestring budget which this establishment obviously has to operate with sadly leaves it lacking in many areas. The room was on the surface clean but closer inspection showed now dusty and I need of more attention. We were told that it was better to have a bath as the shower wasn’t working properly, neither was the tv which kept turning off due to complete lack of WiFi in the room along with a intermittent working fan and light in the bathroom. Difficult to sleep with the beat of very loud music in the bar until well after 11pm. We mentioned on arrival we would need our breakfast at 8am which is when the breakfast service begins. Chef arrived late and breakfast arrived at 8.40am. Breakfast was the most measly of offerings. Cold baked beans, white bread only and no brown sauce. Cup of tea served in stained cup. All in all very disappointing and definitely not worth the £95 we paid. We won’t be returning to this establishment "

"Room was very clean, staff lovely but pretty noisy. Rooms aren’t soundproofed at all (you can hear people going to the toilet as well as doors in the corridor) and the gap under the door lets light in. Very cheap and cheerful for an overnight stay. Wasn’t my worst night sleep ever but have slept better. "
