"The historic building is interesting but it is not updated or well maintained. The carpeting is very worn & smelly. Our bathroom was just plain old. Tub resurfacing was peeling off, mirror was losing it's silvering in spots, no exhaust fan.
I chose the room for the cheaper price on bookings.com & it was just a crummy room. The smell of mildew hit you as soon as you opened the door. We didn't know what it was from at first but after a couple of days, the carpet in the entry way was wet. We called & got maintence. He replaced the refrigerator thinking it must be leaking and used a wet vacuum to suck up the water. But 2 days later it was soaked again. We put up with it because we didn't want to repack to move. We kept covering it with bath towels to soak up the water. We had to go to the front desk every day to get coffee pods & cups & had to ask for more towels. There is no room cleaning unless you ask for it. We needed a toilet brush because there was no housekeeping.
The restuarant, The Tavern, was very good. Good food & good service.
I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. And we are pretty easy to please."
