"Disappointing stay, especially as I have stayed here twice before and previously been very satisfied. There was no hot water or heating, making the room very uncomfortable. I was told on arrival that food orders would stop at 18:00, but not that the menu would be extremely limited with no vegetarian options. Despite being advised the hotel would close at 23:00, the bar was shut and the hotel effectively closed by around 20:30. Breakfast was equally poor, with no staff present, very limited, low-quality food, and again very few vegetarian options. Overall, the lack of basic amenities, poor service, and substandard food made this a very disappointing stay."

"Amazing location and an our room was 109% to our satisfaction. The Lister Arms I believe also own the Buck Inn 100 yards away so we checked out both menus as they cater for different tastes and we chose the Buck inn to eat at which was perfect for us and they also had Sky Sports on which was a bonus. Definitely will return to the Lister Arms next year as the area is truly an amazing place and the value for money for bed and a fantastic breakfast is certainly worth every penny"

"My room was left open all day by cleaning staff so all of my belongings were at risk of being stolen. Restaurant staff were unable to get the chef to cook our vegetables properly and they are unable to cook a soft poached egg properly."

"Wonderful hosts, beautiful location, delicious food. I had a small room for one person, but with a large bathroom overlooking the Dales. Settle is nearby, nice town, and there´s a cosy pub up the road."

"Six of us doing the Way of the Roses cycle route stayed a night at the Golden Lion. The rooms were large and comfortable, nice decor, excellent shower and toiletries. We had a delicious evening meal, and were impressed by the breakfast choices. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and accommodated our bikes overnight. "

"On arrival Monday 4.30pm, this is a really lovely property, clean & tidy, parking not a big issue, quiet street, but the property was freezing cold, heating thermostat set at OFF, boiler was on. Boiler water very low topped up nothing. Hottub cold was 29°. We went through welcome pack no owner details, no heating details, hottub details 3 pages of, do's & don't's, main detail for hottub was DONT TOUCH TEMP BUTTONS. We had booked through Hotels.com this is a Sykes Cottages Property & on arrival, Monday we tried to contact Sykes Cottages 4 different phone numbers NO answer. Tues try ring Sykes sent link to Whatsapp mgs told Agent be in contact ASAP, mgs every day nothing, Thurs reply came, as not heard in over 24 hrs case will close unless still need help, YES need help, told heating details in welcome pack, check boiler is on, may need topup. We replied no heatings instructions in welcome pack, hottub details DONT TOUCH TEMP BUTTONS added photo of hottub temp now 27° no reply. Friday Sykes mgs 14.55 said just got your mgs, will get back to you, thanks for your patience. 16.35pm Sykes, spoke to owner boiler should be on all the time, hottub should not be set at 27° turn to your required temp. Owner father mgs me, owner away, Friday evening told him only way we could use boiler without setup thermostat timer was to boost it every hour & we had turned hottub up. Sykes sent us a complaints email I filled in not heard anything. Its really nice cottage just was cold. "

"We only stayed for one night but had our evening meal and breakfast which were both fantastic. Staff were very helpful on reception and in the restaurant. A lovely old property with a cosy feel and an open fire in the evening. my only negative was the room could have done with an repaint to keep up the standard but the room was lovely and clean. I would stay here again."

"We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The only drawback was the Wi-Fi, which took several attempts to connect and was inconsistent. We didn’t use the pool."
