"Restaurant food was good but the service was poor. The pricing of the food is bizarre too and I believe we were double charged for our food. The waiter could not adequately explain the pricing and I think we were charged double because we shared appetizers and mains (I think they charged per person even if you shared plates). The rooms are pretty dated too including a stained chair in the room."
"Such a warm welcoming. A tipple, shortbread and a smile. Nothing was too much trouble. Room was small but very comfortable. Had everything we required and beautiful view of the loch."
"This property was severely lacking for the price point. We have stayed in “ castles” before, so we know what to expect. Kincraig’s exterior looks dirty. The roof needs attention. There are missing slates. The windows need some type of weather seal to help keep moisture from coming in rooms. Our pillows and bedding were damp. The bedding was very poor. They did have a mattress cover, but instead of a fitted sheet, they used a flat sheet. The pillows were the worst! They were flat and didn’t fluff.
The wallpaper on the ceiling and walls were noticeably starting to peel. There wasn’t any soap by the sink. Glasses by the sink were put straight on the surface, not on a paper doilie. We did not have any extra toilet paper and had to swipe some from the gents in the hall. There were cobwebs in the bathroom and hall. Parts of the shower were really dirty. The common room and dining room were okay, but you could see peeling wallpaper and water marks on ceiling and walls. The decor was weird, mixing old traditional furniture you would expect with contemporary stuff (glass bubble lamps). Breakfast was okay. Dinner was overpriced for what it was. They tun on a skeleton staff. Vijay makes the experience better. A young 15 year old girl ,at dinner, was also very good. This place needs a good scrub, new bedding, and a rebrand. The actual place doesn’t match photos presented. It looks more like a hunting lodge."
"Fantastic guesthouse in a beautiful location!
The host was lovely and gave us tips on where to eat and walks.
The room was super comfy and extremely clean.
Tea/coffee/ biscuits etc in the room.
We felt very at home.
Breakfast was continental but there was plenty!! Toast with butter/jam, yoghurt/fruit, pastries, cereal bar and fresh juice and coffee all delivered to your room!!
Would recommend."
"This is a lovely old manor house that is used by the bus tour companies. The house and carpets need some TLC as they are worn in places and the paint is a bit chipped. Although functional, the bathrooms could be updated.
The grounds are lovely and it is very quiet- just birdsong. It’s only 40 minutes to Inverness and the village itself has a number of attractions."
