"The only reason I didn't rate Carter as a 5 out of 5 was because of two things: 1) expectations weren't set correctly - the pictures are misleading (there's no evening dinner options on site) and the walkable distances were misleading (we were advised by staff to not walk anywhere); 2) the staff didn't proactively offer useful information (e.g., there's a free shuttle to their sister winery that has a dinner restaurant, spa, and wine tastings or the fact that hotel guests receive a wine tasting discount at the winery). Other than that, everyone was very friendly, the pool was great, the wine was good, and we actually did walk across the street to another winery for dinner (just a little risky). :)"
