"The staff was very nice and at first we thought the room was up to par for our taste. Upon waking the next day we found dirty underwear in the bathroom and left over beer cans on and behind the dresser. We had a talk with staff and they apologized with a bottle of Champagne."

"I thought the room was really excellent and the details, from the kettle to the shower were really top of the line. My only complaint was that the super inviting walk in shower, with the giant shower head, had very weak water pressure - it was a real disappointment."

"Amazing location right across from Santa Cruz main beach! Coming from Australia to visit for the first time and so glad we chose Marea Sol. Beautifully renovated - everything is clean, modern and high quality. Spanish charm to the architecture of the place but it was the staff, especially the legend of a manager Katrina, who made our stay so fun and special. "The staff upon arrival was extremely helpful and courteous. The property was fairly clean, but overall I was a bit disappointed with the room and the quality for the price. The pillows were terrible and the amenities were lacking for the money. No hair dryer even in the room. The room was small and lots of noise from the room above us. We payed over 100 dollars more to stay at this hotel from another one we had stayed before and sadly the other one was a way better option for the price. Very sad...

"Perfect location & within walking distance to beach. Room was clean & spacious. Pool & spa was as near our room & was perfect to end the day. Check in was very quick & parking lot and was large enough that I was never worried if there would be enough spots left-unlike our stays @ other hotels in area."

"The lobby and pool area are very nice. The pool was packed with kids, at all hours. Overall, I was disappointed. The room was small, with scuffed floors and looking a little worse for wear. The shower still had hair from the last occupant. There was no microwave and the prices at the bar and for snacks was very high. Common areas (hallways, elevator) were dirty with leaves and debris. I sincerely question the 4 star rating and why I spent so much for the experience I had."
