Lukla Airport one of most dangerous air strips in the world. Only 460 meters in length with a 50 meter elevation change from the bottom of the runway to the top and about a 9000 ft drop off at the end of the runway.
Arriving in Lukla, Nepal. These are the airport signs. At Lukla, there is one tiny runway on the edge of a mountain, a tarmac just big enough to hold 4 small airplanes, and a small airport terminal. You collect your bags right on the tarmac, cross through an opening in this fence, and then begin your journey to Everest Base Camp.
