"Es handelt sich um ein riesieges Holzgebäude,das jemand vor mehreren Jahren mit viel Liebe gebaut hat. Es liegt abseits der Straße auf einem Mischgelände aus Kuhwiesen u. Restwald. "Selva Verda is in a beautiful location on the Sarapiqui river, slightly further off the tourist trail but a true eco-lodge. Great place to stay to immerse yourself in the Costa Rican rainforest and spot wildlife. We spotted a lot within the lodge area. I would recommend the guided nature hike which took us further into the grounds of the lodge. The guide was very knowledgeable and went at a manageable pace for our group of mixed ages. The swimming pool was good. Rooms are functional and clean and some have great views. The food was slightly disappointing but the location and experience made the stay worthwhile."

"We really enjoyed our stay at La Selva. Loved the guided tour that is included and also did a bird tour on the property which was great. Both guides were very knowledgeable and we had a great time on both tours. Multiple trails on the property to explore on our own. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are rustic and basic but we knew that when we booked it so no problem. Dining is cafeteria style which was fine because we were not there for the food but for the nature and the birds."

"We expected much more from this place, but of the five lodges we visited, this was the worst. Regarding the accommodation, we realized that the door could be opened with just a slight push, without even turning the handle, meaning anyone could enter the room even when the handle was locked. Furthermore, there was no water pressure for the shower, and the water had to be heated by a small heater built into the showerhead, but this gadget clearly didn't allow for temperature control; the water was either freezing cold or scalding hot. The room contained only two beds and a bedside table; there was no desk or table with a chair to set up a laptop and edit photos at the end of the day. As for activities, the only real draw of this place is birdwatching or photography, as there's nothing else to do in the area. We would have expected all the perches to be stocked with fruit and the hummingbird feeders to be full, but only one of the many perches had food, and the hummingbird feeders were all empty and were never refilled during our visit. They seemed more interested in selling us expensive paid tours: king vultures $75/person, macro with snakes and frogs $50/person, hummingbirds $65/person, small birds $30/person, bats $65/person. There are trails on the property, but they are not suitable for regular hiking boots and are extremely muddy; rubber boots are absolutely necessary. Considering the price of the overnight stays, we would have expected a little more from this place."
