"Good location and good price point for what we needed. We stay for the night to attend a wedding. Wedding is at 4 and I’ve inquired if an early check in can be accommodated to just dress up for the event but instead of trying to help out and give options for the situation, the response is a hard no with no wiggle room for anything. “ We don’t do early check in. Check in is at 3pm. “ I work in customer service in health care and we try to give some solutions. Like they can say, we will try to get you in sooner than 3pm if there’s an availability but it’s not guaranteed. We have a bathroom in the lobby if you simply need a place to change or something. This is what separates a great stay versus a good one. It’s the customer service."

"I had a very disappointing experience at the Hilton Garden Inn Lynchburg. I made my reservation a month in advance as part of a wedding block. Two weeks prior to my arrival, I also called the hotel to request an early check-in due to my flight schedule. I was assured that early check-in would be noted and accommodated. However, when I arrived around 10:00 a.m., the front desk receptionist was immediately dismissive and rude. I was told I could not check in until 4:00 p.m., even though the listed check-in time online is 3:00 p.m. I explained that I had called ahead and was part of the wedding block, but instead of trying to help, she told me that “25 other people had priority” over my stay. I stayed in the lobby waiting for hours. During that time, I overheard the receptionist giving different and inconsistent explanations to multiple guests, which made the situation even more frustrating. When I checked back in around 2:30 p.m. (just 30 minutes before the standard check-in time), I was told there were still no rooms available. At that point, I still had no room, no clear communication, and no assistance from staff. Due to the lack of availability and poor customer service, I had to book a room at another hotel. Despite this, I was still charged for one night at this location—even though I never checked in or stayed there. Overall, this experience was extremely unprofessional and stressful, especially given that I had planned ahead for a special event. I would not recommend."

"Do not recommend! Buyer beware! Cancelled my reservation without contacting me after running my low limit credit card that I used to hold my reservation on a pay at the property. Front desk associate didn’t stand or greet us upon entering the hotel. Refused to rebook us & told us to go to the Home Too. Called Home Too & they wanted to put my party of four in a room with one king & a pull out for more money. No thank you! Made a reservation at the local Marriott and was treated amazingly. Hilton just lost a Hilton Honors member. Marriott is now my go to. "

"This is always the hotel of my choice whenever I visit family in Lynchburg. The staff is incredibly helpful and have great positive attitudes...it's a welcome feeling after a day of travel! The hotel and rooms are always clean and the gym looks like it got a little update with equipment which is great! Breakfast is perfect with great options and it's a very convenient location for me. The lemon water is always divine."

"Great hotel to stay in if you're in Altavista or need a place to stay overnight on a road trip. The breakfast has good options...eggs, sausage or bacon, breakfast sandwich, yogurt, toast, biscuits, muffins, danishes, waffle maker, coffee with plain, vanilla or hazelnut creamers...can you tell a good breakfast is important to me!??!?! The room itself is no frills, but the flooring is nice! Not carpet with stains, but a nice kind of engineered wood hybrid with a dark stain finish. The bathroom had nice smooth tile flooring...everything felt clean and spic and span! The bed and pillows were comfortable and I was able to get a good night's sleep both nights we stayed there. All of the staff were excellent. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was a good one. All-in-all, this is a great option for staying in Altavista. Really helped to be close to my dad while visiting him in Autumn Care of Altavista...an excellent nursing home option if needed for your loved one."
