"As a solo woman traveler, I was a little afraid of booking this Motel 6, but it was the only place within my budget. But I can say, although the room was extremely spartan, I always felt safe—even with a ground floor room. I checked in near midnight, but there was ample, well-lit parking, and a real human checked me in (not a kiosk). There was neither a coffee pot or hairdryer in the room, but free coffee was available in the lobby every morning, and I asked for a hairdryer and was given one. All of the staff were helpful and kind; I was there for 6 nights, and really appreciated that I could change out my towels. The location is convenient with a shopping mall .2 miles away with a Von’s and a couple of places to eat."

"Had a last minute need for a hotel in the area, we love Carpenteria , so when I saw a room for 150 for a Saturday evening I jumped on it. I wasn’t expecting much for the price but was happily surprised. If you take bikes it will be an easy ride to the beach, and close to many delicious restaurants. Will definitely go back."

"The bed and bathroom were great. I neglected to read carefully that the motel is on a pretty busy street, and that it is a 1 star place, so no microwave, water glass, regular sized desk etc. It is a good newly fixed up kind of retro experience."

"The character and staff are outstanding. It was a previous Spanish style Elks lodge, and they must have had a lot of fun there. It was just beautiful. We didn't use the amenities as much as we could have. Really enjoyed just sitting out in the lovely courtyard with a glass of wine/coffee in the morning. Convenient too."
