The sky’s the limit at the Museum of AviationOpens in a new window. One of the largest of its kind in the country, the museum is dedicated to the history of military aviation. Explore exhibits that display military memorabilia, as well as a collection of aircraft. Make your way up to the museum’s observation deck for some “bird” watching, Warner Robins-style. You’ll see impressive aircraft from the neighboring Robins Air Force Base launch and practice drills overhead. If you’re visiting in November, investigate the Wings and Wheels Car Show hosted by the museum. Check out restored automobiles and rare models at this annual festival.

If you find trains more interesting, tour Warner Robins’ “depot row.” Visit the E. L. Greenway Welcome Centre, housed within a historic train depot dating back to 1944. You’ll see the Southern Railroad caboose X556, which was built in 1971, as well as the Elberta Train Depot. Nearby, explore Mildred’s Country Store, stacked with fascinating treasures and local antiques.

As the Southeast Regional Little League Headquarters, Warner Robins is renowned as the county’s sports hub and has backed championship teams throughout its history. Locals claim that tee-ball was invented in Warner Robins. See tomorrow’s star athletes competing on the city’s fields or watch a regional round of high school football.
