"The property was very well maintained and the room was also well maintained and clean. The reservation stated a view of the lake and it was a partial view which I expected. Overall...Nice. The reason I'm writing this review is to what happened on the 1st night/early morning of our stay. Around 5am the fire alarm woke us up! We could smell burning (plastic?) no smoke yet, but proceeded to evacuate the building. We waited outside for First Responders after my husband and the staff called 911. After they arrived, extinguished the fire, and cleared the building, Kris from the office found us and apologized. She let us know that the room would be "comped" for the night and set us up in a different building with an even better room. The rest of our stay was wonderful. We loved the new room better than the one that we originally booked! Thanks Kris!! When we make reservations to return to the Surfside next year....we will definitely be booking the better room, funny how things work out😊 Thanks again M. Bonestell"

"The outside balcony was fantastic. We love sitting there and looking at the lake in the morning and the evening. The bed was hard as a rock and the mattress needs replaced as we both woke up with sore hips every morning. The HVAC unit needs a good cleaning as there is some dust accumulation on the vents. The toilet paper holder also needs to be fixed as it just hangs down. We stayed in the same room (502) just last year and found nothing has changed. We love the convenience of being able to walk everywhere and the food is wonderful everywhere."
