As we were flying into Providence yesterday and reading some horrific reviews on this and other sites, I had buyers remorse! Smokey, old, broken, etc. were the words used to describe this place. I was a bit intimidated. Yet, reality was something different.
We arrived to what was a Marriott Residence Inn in a prior life; one that has separate buildings. Old style.
The gentleman at the desk was very nice and helpful as we needed a first floor room. We had a nice chat during the registration.
As for the room. Let's be clear, you aren't booking at the Ritz. Styles are a bit aged and there is some wear, especially on the ceramic tiles in the kitchen. The carpets were definitely stained and the walls had minor scuff marks. The couch was a bit rough.
The rooms had zero smoke smell. Zero. The entire property is non-smoking so not sure where those comments came from. Our room was well cleaned and neat. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. The TV had a ton of channels.
There was a couch and chair as well as kitchen table. Bath towels were fluffy and very white.
Trust me, I've written some scathing reviews where warranted but this one doesn't deserve it. I have stayed and paid for much more plush and new properties and definitely a ton of places not as nice.
This is a decent hotel at a decent price. It is sort of out of the way but still within a mile to the airport and tons of restaurants.
