Fruit bats, sometimes referred to as Flying Foxes, are the main attraction at the tiny but serene temple Wat Pho Bang Khla in central Thailand. They rely on their vision instead of echolocation to navigate, and their wingspan can reach lengths of over a meter long.

The surrounding trees are filled with hundreds of these bats, who all take flight at dusk, circling the temple in a scene eerily reminiscent of "The Birds." They sometimes fly for miles in search of food, and a friend who lives nearby told me that mangoes are a particular favorite (they regularly raid his tree.)
